A flight from Doha to Manchester on Saturday (Flight QR932), hit major turbulence en route. 40 Passengers suffered minor injuries, and due to the high number, the pilot asked for priority landing at Manila Airport.

No animals died. I added that bit. :Erm:

Turbulence can be really nasty, most people have never really experienced it. Watch the crew, when they sit down and belt up, then you should hold tight. I always wear my seatbelt when seated, many don't bother and undo their belt as soon as the bell chimes, crazy.

I guess out of the 40 injured, hardly any had seat belts on. I always have mine on, even if I'm lying down. The wife likes to make sure it is always nice and tight around my neck :cwm24:

On one flight from Singapore to Manila, I had waited ages for a coffee. Eventually I got one. Not long after we hit turbulence and I ended up with 1/2 cup of coffee. :grosyeux:

Just like others I've had my fair share of really bad turbulence.
Just like others I always keep my seat belt on. Best practice IMO

Hit some turbulence one particular time flying over Newfoundland, it didn't last long but it was quite bad, exacerbated by the stewardesses serving coffee just as it hit. Well you can imagine - coffee on the ceiling, stewardesses injured and scalded, food flying everywhere. Granted it had all the hallmarks you don't want, a good shaking followed by a sudden drop, with the lights going out for extra dramatic effect.

Oh there was screaming, there was "we're going to die" - it was like a scene from Airplane but without the wobbly boobies.

Thing is, I knew it was just turbulence and was unfazed, but the reaction of others made me (for some reason to this day I don't understand) very angry. There were loads of little kids on the flight and this was panicking them. I started shouting out "it's turbulence, get your belts on, no you aren't going to die!!"
BUT later, much later on the ground I had a panic do and couldn't face flying for a long time. Strange huh
