Thank you Arthur for this good news about heart surgery for a few Filipino children with congenital heart disease ( CHD ) :xxgrinning--00xx3:. Credit to the Rotary Club for funding treatment of CHD, which is among the top 10 causes of infant mortality in the Philippines. Indeed the Rotary Club of the Philippines has a history of this type of funding, which sadly in the majority of cases can’t otherwise be afforded.

• There are many types of CHD, affecting about 1% of babies born in the UK, with a complete range from mild to severe - in most cases there is no obvious cause. Children in the UK with CHD often do survive into adulthood ( perhaps requiring lifelong treatment ), even with the serious types of CHD requiring surgery - thanks to a handful of specialised NHS units performing more procedures, with improving results, over the years.

• The Philippines only spends 4.5% of their GDP ( Gross Domestic Product ) on health - compared to 9% in the UK, which has 10 times the GDP.

• There is a “ Congenital Heart Awareness ( Philippines ) “ site on facebook :-

https://www.facebook.com/CHDAwarenessPhils

• Despite a relative lack of resources, much good work has been done at various hospitals, including the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City, established 40 years ago through Presidential Decree issued by Ferdinand Marcos :-

Yes, :iagree:, Marco ... those children are, indeed, the lucky ones.

Due praise :Hellooo: to the combined efforts of the two Rotary Clubs involved ... it's deeds like theirs that go a very long way towards restoring faith in human nature! :xxgrinning--00xx3:
