Here's one i just did and it's at the best time in the day for speeds:-

http://www.speedtest.net/result/4683608706.png

With that I can just about watch YT or BBC iPlayer (at a push)
Trouble is I really don't have the time to watch BBC at this time of day.

I'm paying P1600 for 3Mbs

Its weird because a few weeks ago I was getting over 3mb regularly but even with the speed net results it doesnt feel like a bad connection.. I can watch youtube videos with almost no buffering.. Strange.

I always reckon that with around 1Mbs I'm OK for YT and BBC

One of the issues right now is the number of drop-outs and the time I get dropped.

It's a worry when I'm making online banking transactions if there's a power outage of internet drop out.

A couple of weeks ago we were in the shopping mall when the power went out. Most things came back quickly except the air-con and the escalators and the ATM's

I was close to a lady who was making a transaction on the ATM.
She was just about to retrieve her card and wait for the money to come out when "bang" it just stopped. No card. No Money.

Her friend managed to find some security people but I wasn't able to hang around to see the outcome.
To be honest I hadn't considered this scenario before.

Don't know what the outcome would be but it does worry me.

Our internet guy says its better if you ask the ISP for a static I.P.. He says the connection will be far more stable..It will cost a bit more but worth the money.

Don't know anything about that.
I'll pop in and question PLDT about it next time I'm downtown :xxgrinning--00xx3:

About 1,570 per month including all Globe to Globe calls and text free.

I've been looking around for a possible replacement provider and often considered Globe.
My existing contract expires Nov/Dec

I'm currently paying more than that for a rubbish connection.

As soon as our PLDT contract expired we went to Globe. PLDT was off more than it was on.:cwm23:

Did you send me your 3mb  Actually if i'm honest we normally get around 1mb and have done since we applied a couple of months ago.

I think we have the same package. Globe T@ttoo@Home with free phone to call other Globe lines.
Have you had any extra charges on the phone? Took me around a month to work out how to lock the thing and i managed to run up an extra bill of around 600 pesos without calling anyone :doh

We still used dial - up until July this year! The kids have now started to come for a visit since we had Globe Tattoo@home installed. Wonder why :Erm:

Not as of yet Jake.. We only use the phone for Globe to Globe calls which so far have proven to be free.:xxgrinning--00xx3:
The strange thing is though that I can watch Youtube without any buffer..
I was talking to a guy here that has just connected to a fiber optic system.. He`s testing it at the moment.. He says that speed test shows 1mb only and yet he can stream live TV and so far the connection is very stable.. He needs it because he makes his money teaching Korean students English..
So to be honest Im not really sure about how to interpret my speed test results.:Erm:

Sky are just now installing in our village.
We considered it when we first moved here but at that time it wasn't available.

Yes, it's another one to consider. I noticed on the plus side that they give a minimum service speed of 2.5Mbs if you contract to a 5Mbs package. They include a Hi-Def TV package too. Must take a look at the channels as I do enjoy quite a few when I have time.

Thanks for the reminder :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I can not recommend Sky Broadband in Davao whereas I can recommend it if you live in Mandaue, Cebu.

That nearly as fast as we get in the UK. Upload is faster in fact. I knew I should have not strayed North of Watford Gap... (in reality 3.5MB/s down is perfectly adequate, but 300k up isn't).

Rose's family gets a similar speed to Terpe's in Batangas. Seemed to work OK too (apart from after a Typhoon, but nothing works then).

KeithD

300k up is pretty much the norm, as you upload very little data compared to downloading.

I'm convinced something recently happened.

Whether it was my constant complaining or whether it had something to do with recent internet speed testing by The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) based on an official measurement system we'll never find out.

But look at this for a Saturday night here in Davao City:-
