Driving license

Off to the USA and we are hiring a car, right must take driving license , but i cannot find my paper copy, and yes we dont need it now according to the government,
The hire company states that i must show both parts of the License ,i have been on some sites and they say you dont need it,
What do you lot think

I may be wrong but dont you go to the new DVLA site and put in your details and get a code which the hire company uses to check your licence ?

You get a check code which they use.

They no longer issue the paper counterpart, you have to take the form D741 that they issue with this information:xxgrinning--00xx3:
