'L' driver, Sarah Robertson from Paignton failed her Practical Driving Test when she was twenty.

Athough she hadn't been "behind the wheel" in the 10 years since - the care worker recently decided to resume taking driving lessons.

Having mislaid her provisional licence meant she'd to apply for a replacement ... which, of course, she duly did.

Imagine Sarah's astonishment :grosyeux: when last Friday, through the post, there came a full driving licence ... bearing her photo and signature! :cwm24:

So she immediately contacted the DVLA ... only to be informed that someone with her name and birth date had passed their test earlier. the same week. :yikes: Coincidence? :icon_rolleyes: ... or what?

So Sarah went online to check if her name actually appeared on the database. And, sure enough ... :anerikke: ... it did!

Now - thanks to this young lady's truly commendable honesty - the DVLA claims to be conducting an investigation into how in error of such magnitude could possibly have occurred. :cwm25:

But I shudder to think of the consequences had such an IMPORTANT document fallen into the hands of a much less scrupulous person. :NoNo:

Over the years there could be many less scrupulous people received a full licence:Erm:

:yeahthat:'s so, Michael.

Tbh ... this tale struck me as a bit "far~fetched" when I :ReadIt: in yesterday's 'Metro'; for a start, I couldn't find a link with which to back it up. However, I played safe in transcribing it into my own words to avoid infringing copyright.

Anyroads ... :anerikke: ... why allow the facts to get in the way of a good story!
