To be honest ... :anerikke: ... it isn't something I've ever given ANY (previous) thought to.

But apparently, the British Airline Pilots' Association is thoroughly convinced of the risks posed by *beams emitted from laser pointers on account of *their deleterious effects on the eyesight :cwm24: of cockpit staff ... and is calling for them to be classified as offensive weapons:

Yes, and make the offenders pay compensation... by breaking rocks in a quarry if necessary.

Personally, I'd have the :censored:s hands cut off. :mad:

Having used a high powered laser pointer at my work for the last few years, I think this is a load of guff!!
The chance of a person actually blinding or interrupting a pilot's concentration is very small... as is the chance of the laser user actually hitting the pilot in the eye.:doh
