Just had a smart meter fitted today by British gas ,
It took the chap 2 hours and its free, i can change supplies and there is no charge, infact i can do anything and there is no charge at all,
So since it was fitted at 1pm and its now nearly 19.30pm it is showing £0.37p,
You can see it light up from green to orange then red it all depends on how much you are using at one time,
I have found 3 touches to use now its better then turning on the lights

Yes the smart meter is a good idea. I have had a British Gas, Gas and Electricity smart meter for over a year now and I sit and listen to it as it beeps my money away whilst my tribe are in the shower for hours on end dealing with their long black hair and then drying and straightening it.

On another note I just changed supplier to save money and guess what? my smart meter automatic meter reading facility is not supported by them. So now I have to go back to giving meter readings online. Still at least the smart meter can still show me the meter readings on the screen so no need to keep going down the cellar to read it directly.

Doing some research shows that this is a common problem as the energy suppliers all use different software/technology in their smart meters so they are incompatible with each other. But there is supposed to be an agreed standard smart meter format coming into service that all the energy suppliers must subscribe to.

But as always in these matters it is late. I would wait and have a smart meter installed once this has been concluded otherwise when you switch suppliers you will find your smart meter is not so smart anymore. And it is worth switching continually as I saved £250 and am now getting emails from U-Switch saying that I can switch again now and save another £75.

We have electric supply controls here in Davao City that reduce your power consumption to zero.

It's called Brown-Out.

It's a very rare treat to have a day go by without at least 2.
Well same at night too.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing,
I keep checking it and when it's in the orange because the kettle is on or some one is in the shower or even worst I am turning the tap on for hot water,
Best bet is to put it in the drawer and carry on as I did before I thinks

Bad thing in my opinion. Why spend so much of your life fretting about the little things. Worrying about a few pounds every month just seems such a waste of time.

I have a Smart Man here in the Philippines

Do you have a generator?
If we had regular brownouts, i think we would struggle to run our business.
