Top Gear's Chris Evans is stepping down as the show's presenter after just over a year in the role ... tweeting he "gave it his best shot ... :anerikke: ... but felt that wasn't enough to maintain viewers' interest"!

Could not get into the program again, it is the same as the last one, yes its nice to see these beautiful cars but lets get real , show more cars that the normal person can buy,
Is it about the show or is it all about the presenters AGAIN

Never watched any of the latest series...

Of course its has been about the presenters for a number of years now andwass like an alternative comedy show and that's what made it so popular worldwide, the cars are a secondary distraction and that's why this series has been a relative flop and little better than fifth gear.

Worst part of this whole story is the money the BBC has lost in revenue from selling the original series to the rest of the world, just because someone at the BBC apparently had it in for Clarkson, 'cutting your nose off' springs to mind, there again though it's not their money is it? Oh, and last week it was reported that Top Gear USA has been scrapped, another dent to the BBC's coffers.....

I must admit, I never had a desire to watch the new show. There was and never will be an alternative to Clarkson and crew. Ok, he was not always PC, but who cares. I am sure the only complaints ever came from the 'easily offended' gang looking to make waves.
The relationship between JC, RH and JM was great, yes, a comedy show with cars, but that is what made it so watchable. Shame on the BBC. I will watch the re-runs on Dave.

You said it for me. :xxgrinning--00xx3:
Better to create a new show now.
'Top Of The Pops'... killed.
'TopGear'... killed.
What next ? :anerikke:
At least I can still drive the car of my choice on the Xbox (Forza4) TopGear test track...

Will he get an offer to front another TV show I wonder? I don't think many will be knock knock knocking on Evans door after this failure.

Dunno ... :anerikke: ... about TV, Jamie ... but he took over Terry Wogan's early morning breakfast slot on Radio 2 - and still occupies that - as far as I'm aware, anyway.

What was your time Graham?
I'd have to look it up Fred.
It does give you a time of course, plus how you stack up against others (and that's what I'm constantly trying to improve upon ), but there are different classes of vehicles, depending upon modifications, plus there are several different layouts on the TopGear track.
In all this time I haven't bothered to find out which one they actually use for the TV programmes. :doh Must do that !
Well-known tracks like Donington, Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Monza GP, Nurburgring, Spa, Le Mans, etc, I have my times for, which adds to the interest when watching real motor sports events from them.
Oh, and there is the TopGear 'reasonably-priced car' (the old Khia Ceed version) that I can use, so I'll do a lap in that and then put the playback vid on here.
Bit late now, so I'll do it tomorrow.

Be interesting to see where you come on the star in a reasonably-priced car leaders board.

They just have the old Suzuki Liana, so I used that... on the correct circuit. Only did a quick couple of laps, and this is what I came up with (already in the top 6% of world player best times after the 2 laps. lol)
Here's the car... suitably liveried:

Bloody hell Graham...That puts you at the top of the Top gear leader board..:xxgrinning--00xx3:
I`ll email em and ask them to amend!!
I misread the sign though...Looked like "Filipina Roses" on the replay..
Keith will be pleased.

Hahaha... hold up there Fred.
That figure is better than the true Top Gear ones because to find a fair comparison with others on the Forza4 (game) leader boards, which are populated by millions, I have upgraded the power, so that the original car you're given is then 'maxed out' in its class... which is F200.
The standard car comes as about F130... which leaves you with about 70 points of upgrades of your choice to bring it up to F200 class max... which of course other gamers take advantage of.
I'll do a couple of runs in the bog-standard car though, to get a figure comparable to the programme competitors... and post it in another day or two.
The 'Filipina Races' is just a play on words ... in case Keith has copyright. :ReadIt:

At least Jeremy (who is a few years my junior) continues to make me feel youthful, whenever I see his wrecked features. :icon_lol:
Thank goodness I stopped smoking.
