NBI Clearance needed?

Afternoon all,

I was lucky enough for my partner to get a fiancée visa on the first attempt :)

We are looking at getting my partners flight booked for 2 weeks time and i was just after some advice, does she need a NBI clearance to fly to the UK and also my daughter (British & filipino passport holder) - does she need clearance (10th months old)?

Just out of interest, which passport should we give for my daughter her British was no stamps in it (as she was born in the PI) or the Filipino passport?

Any help would be appreciated!

PS I have seen on other threads that she will need NBI (not police), but not 100% sure about my daughter...

Check the CFO website for the currents regs on the child.

Sorry I can't give any solid advice regarding your actual question (though I don't remember having any problems... or need for any kind of visa or 'permissions' for my first son when he was travelling on his Brit passport from age 3 months. I think below a certain age... maybe 2 years, they are exempt from such things).

Do check on the Phils Bureau of Immigration and DFA sites too though.

I would just carry both of his passports, and show them both. Dual citizenship is recognised in both countries.

Upon reaching UK, simply show the British one.

As a matter of interest, how long did it take for your baby's British passport to be processed ?..... as I have just sent off for our (11 month old) baby boy's.:smile:

We did not know about the CFO - so we have booked the first slot we could which is August 5 - hoping to have her our here on July 26.... so trying to get a slot before.

Regarding the passport a rough time scale was:

Started in November, but did not have all the offical documents until January (green birth cert was the delay) and the passport got issued in May. We are an unmarried couple so it took longer, i was chasing it every couple of days - i think i spoke to everyone in Liverpool and had a direct line to one person in the end.

The direct contact in the Liverpool office explained that if it's an unmarried couple the cause of the delay is checking the CENOMAR as these are often faked. He was that nice i sent him a case of wine once we got the passport, just for being the first person to explain everything to me.

I'm encouraged with what you've said about your daughter's passport application too.

Perhaps remind your lady to also carry the baby's birth cert with her when she travels... just in case it's asked for ? :smile:

I am sure it will be fine - just chase it and it will come, i think the ones where people leave it - then it gets delayed...

Thanks - just one quick question regarding the Fiance Visa - we have not paid any NHS surcharge, looking online it looks like we do not have to pay anything, unless my partner gets sick and needs treatment.

By the look of it, it might be wise to get travel insurance for medical treatment - would you agree or am i missing something?

There's always a risk. Depends how to judge it.
I'd advise getting some insurance, but be aware that your fiancee will always be able to get treatment for emergencies.
