You hear it most days from people who know you have a interest in Asia, and then they make the mistake about Thailand is the Philippines and on it goes, "you can live like a king over there on a fiver",
A lot of fivers i think they mean , but not even knowing where it is i just smile and say just a little bit more.
Its like building the house you have always wanted , now if its what you are wanting yes maybe £50,000 may get you a nice house but is it what you are wanting, just like living there on a budget, yes it may be fine for yourself but not for others,.
In real life i am sure there are the chuckles from many members who hear what others think they can manage on and i must admit i have gasped a lot on what a few say they will need and that way above my budget, but each to there own,
Our budget is in my eyes is healthy but it does not mean we will be spending every penny of it each week.
Right back to try to explain where the Philippines is compared to Thailand

"you can live like a king over there on a fiver".....

Can't think of a single place on this planet where that could apply.....even for one day :icon_lol::icon_lol:

Forgetting what might happen to the xchange rate that £50k is just over P3M
Yes, you Might just make it to build the house you always wanted.........depends what you always wanted

For me, to cover the costs of land in a decent location and build the house I always wanted would be considerably more than P3M
:icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

Just saying.

When we were looking to buy the house we always wanted we ended up viewing properties in the P12M-P25M range in Davao.

That's why we started looking at 2 bed bungalows on a good sized plot with good options for extending.
Most we at P3M - P6M

Some of the new condo's down the same road as our condo in Cubao are going for P10m for a 28 sq m place....:doh
We have a 64 sq m condo.
Incidently we've decided not to sell but to spend money on updating and rent it out for income. We actually spend less and less time there these days anyway.

I know someone who is selling a 120sq metre plot of land in Davao for under 10k (our money), if anyone is interested.

I have already lost far too much on property in the Phils... and that was after we'd been married 12 years. :NoNo:

We (well the Mrs does) own an acre of land next to a good road in the province now.

Nothing more will be spent until all paperwork is shown to be genuine taxes paid, etc etc.

I own nothing over in the Philippines, now I know Emma has a share in the house we built, yes it's my home for as long as I want it to be,
Touring is what I would like to do and use the house as a base well until we both know it's a place we both would like to call home

I am happy with our house in Phils. We live in a lovely area, we have been blasted by typhoons and never flooded or had damage. It is the place my children will inherit and home for me no matter what. It is nice to have that to return to as I have nothing in the UK anymore. Still, life takes all sorts of twists and turns, but we survive, and I am happy with what I have.

Deca Homes are a low-cost housing developer.

We looked at plenty of their developments when we had an interest in buy-to-rent.

Which part of Davao is it in Jamie, any idea?
