Is it just me that finds it really infuriating :cwm23:

Not sure what's happening with this forum or how we encourage more active members, but it would appear that members fall into 4 categories.

1. Very active, starting threads and keeping the forum afloat really. You know who you are guys :xxgrinning--00xx3:

2. Browsers and occasional posters. To be honest I probably fall into this category :Erm:

3. The old faces that pop in every now and again and make some sort of contribution.

4. The users, the one's that have found this forum and come on asking for help with visas or the like, get some very good answers and advice and then don't come back until they've got another question that needs answering

Rant over, maybe it's just me

:laugher::laugher::laugher::laugher:.
It takes so many different people to make the world go round, some you just don't seem to see eye to eye with, but we are all here to help and maybe have a little fun along the way.
I have forgotten most of what people are needing for visas and things like that, so really what am I good for, winding people up:xxgrinning--00xx3:
I understand where you are coming from Simon, that's why I asked the other day for Facebook people just incase my windup's go to far, nudge nudge no what I mean

You missed the people that join, ask a question, get an answer..... But they never post again. Not even an acknowledgement to say they've read whoever may have answered.

I too am in that category, I read post every day and reply to those I can.

When I first married my ex wife who was a Filipina in 2008, the help I received here was amazing.

I cannot help others on current Philippine info, but like to think I am keeping in touch with members who helped me and saw me through rough times.

:iagree: ... and it's [occasionally] the same story when you give out rep - without even receiving so much as the common courtesy of an acknowledgement - :cwm25: it's as though [a few] haven't a clue... :anerikke: ... what rep is!

From rep messages I have received, I seem to get into a jumble as to who they are from and often cant thank people because I am not that sure who they are from.

I do keep trying to give them for good post but am often told to spread them around first.

:yeahthat:'s true, guys ... on each of these counts. :icon_rolleyes: ... I used to think ALL members were able to see who'd given them *rep, but have, of course, long~since discovered only the Forum Administration + Moderators can access such information.

This means ... unless the donor specifies who *it's from (personally, I always do!) then the recipient will be none the wiser. :NoNo:

Arthur, whilst I appreciate you're trying to help I do not appreciate my threads being altered without my express permission.
The thread was altered after 6 days, and if I wanted the word 'distinct' in my paragraph I would have written it. As it happens, I was contemplating using the word distinct or specific but I deliberately didn't.

Simon ... I'd been wondering when/if you'd get around to spotting that. And, being a pedantic sort of chap - like myself - then ... :anerikke: ... of course you would've eventually, I suppose. It was only a question of *time! See #9 (in which, I've complimented you in my thread on that very *subject:

I really don't want to get into an arguement about this, Arthur. If I have broken any rules by swearing or copy and pasting from other sources then by all means any moderator can do their job and edit my post.
Until that point, if I feel that a post I've written can somehow be enhanced by adding a word or the like then I'm more than capable of using the 'edit post' option myself, I do not need any help :NoNo:

 That said, I apologise for altering your thread ... or rather, adding the word 'distinct' to it. There was actually a twofold reason for my doing so, however.

Firstly, with your also being an observant bloke - AGAIN, like me - you're bound to've noticed the number of occasions on which I've edited words in my own threads/posts.

:yeahthat:'s because I'm keen to see my sentences/paragraphs in as neat an "alignment" as possible (in the style of newspaper print) ... a struggle, :iagree: for someone like me, who's NOT sufficiently endowed with the "technical knowledge" to achieve this effect.

And secondly, due to this "perfectionist quirk" of mine, I'd inserted the extra word to fill what, to me, seemed an inordinately leng~thy empty space between the "4 & categories" in the relevant post.

Anyway, I ought to've realised this change was likely to show up :icon_rolleyes: ... as virtually every item edited - after it's been on here for more than a few hours - does nowadays. :xxgrinning--00xx3:
