Duterte harry may have gone just a tad too far :doh he has now admitted killing 3 people himself in Davao last year, and i did hear a story perhaps apocrypal of him killing someone else from what I consider a credible source. The sky reporting team went ambulance chasing in manila,a report came in of a shooting,6 masked men went into a house, told everyone to get out except a 20 year old, when the crew filmed him coming out it was in a body bag :doh approx 6000 extra judicial killings from july to december so far,its more fun in the philippines :NoNo:

The story was carried on yesterdays BBC news site, and several other brit media sites, yup dirtyturte can expect his door kicked off its hinges at 6am if it was a normal situation :Erm: the PI has only just been offered as a holiday destination by some of the bigger holiday companies,a friend of mine is on a SEA sea cruise at the moment, they went to manila, they were stuck on a bus ASAP :icon_lol: then visited a few tourist places escorted, taken to MOA which is an old historical place i assume :icon_lol: and they also went to boracay where they spent 2 days?I can see it being taken off the tourist map and the touristy not so catchy Its more fun in the Philippines attracting serial killers only as what other country, modern day,has a self confessed serial killer as el presidente? In fact he actually encourages his chums to wipe out people,he said yesterday when he used to be in davao riding his harley,he was looking for confrontations with criminals :Erm: i just thought he was enjoying anride in the sun :doh

I agree, Duterte may have made a big mistake in admitting to cruising the streets of Davao looking for 'baddies' to shoot. So many people are looking for a way to impeach him/get rid of him. All he needed to do was keep his trap shut on this topic.

i saw the stories on the news too. Even the Daily Mail is getting in on the act. Lots of negative press about drug users being killed. One story about a woman whose family told her to stop doing it and she wouldn't as they would be able to afford to eat without the proceeds and she was terrified of getting killed. However poor they may be, she is taking a huge risk to feed her family which I understand too. No way out for some.

It is real and it is happening.

As I posted on the forum when I was there in the Phils a couple of weeks ago, a guy was shot in the face 4 times while waiting to be served in the bakery shop not more than 100 yards from our apartment. This is in an otherwise peaceful small provincial town. SUSPECTED involvement in drugs. The police station is a few yards away.

Things are getting pretty scary over there... both in reality and as perceived by the outside world.

Any hope of increasing (the already pathetically small) tourist figures is just a bad joke. :NoNo:

Yep, seen it on BBC and Sky News yesterday morning. Keith just can't believe how the majority of the Filipinos adore him like he is a god. I told him it has long been a known rumour about his killings in the past but the Pinoys will still favour him despite all this, as long as they say he isn't corrupt or is dealing with the druggies.:doh

Believe me, [almost] the last thing I'd have considered myself to be, is condescending ... it's simply not part of my nature! :nono-1-1: ... as for my use of the word "mate" and the :icon_rolleyes:, allow me to explain:

Firstly, I prefer to address someone I'm replying to by the person's *actual Christian name i.e., assuming, of course. I know *it! Although, I seem to recall (from away back) being told yours is 'Del' (yes, I've a good long-term memory ) there was always the [slim] chance of my being mistaken. So it was easier just to use "mate" instead.

Secondly, the rolling eyes symbol was used to convey mild, personal irritation  at your taking ANOTHER "pot shot" at a man - whose highly successful efforts to clean up the city he'd represented for many, many years - resulted in around 16~20 million of the Filipino people clamouring for him to become their next leader - an office which, previously, he had neither sought nor wanted.

I think everyone that voted for him knew about the famous rumours of death squads in Davao long before voting for him..
Where we live, drug crime has gone down big time..Only people selling drugs here are Police in buy bust operations.. No ride in tandem shootings since he was elected in our area.. Corruption is being addressed..Never actively seen that happen before.

In regards possible impeachment instigated by corrupt Yellow Senators ..The reality.

Justice minister Vitaliano Aguirre waved away Duterte’s comments as “hyperbole”.
“He always exaggerates just to put his message across,” Aguirre said, adding that even if Duterte had killed, he did not necessarily break the law.
“It could be done with a justifiable cause and justified circumstances as a public officer in order to arrest but if they resisted. He must have been forced,” he said.
Any move to impeach Duterte is unlikely to succeed. Not only does he command huge domestic support for his bloody war on drugs, the firebrand nicknamed “the Punisher” also has allies in the lower and upper house of congress.

Arthur, your response came accross in a derogatory manner, almost to the point of calling Tawi a liar. He had already stated where he heard the news, both on the BBC and Sky, but you wanted links or it was a 'fairy story'

Personally I believe that any moderator should think twice before posting and possibly causing offence and also not edit other members posts just because they think it reads better.

NO ONE is calling ANYONE a liar. :NoNo: But you're bound to be aware of mass media's penchant for sensationalism, embellishing headlines and being economical with 'truths' - especially (to cite a word you've used in replying to me) "derogatory" ones - about either people or events, purely in order to attract public attention and, in turn, boost sales.

I live in both Marikina City and Cubao (Quezon City)
There's no doubt in my mind (based on my experience living in QC) that the above statement is true.
Let's be honest the ONLY way a drug user can get money to live is by selling drugs (pusher)
Almost all users are pushers and are very very small fry. Living in poverty.
Just users trying to get enough money to buy their next fix. They believe Shabu will give them extra strength to work longer hours and work harder to put food on the table and secure their next fix.
I'm just an observer, but it seems that almost all the 'big fry' drig lords are receiving imdemnity for one reason or another.

It's not right IMHO.

I'm certainly not intent on running this country down, especially when I read what is going on in the USA and the involvement of specific US agencies in the supply of arms and support of so many organisations in genocide, mass murder and cyber-hacking.

That goes back to corruption Simon..Or kind of..
3 years ago I went in for a smoke emissions test with the Mrs.. They stuck the probe up the pipe and left it there for about 3/4 minutes whilst the Mrs paid at the window..(I sat in the car at all times)
They took the probe out,the Mrs got in and I asked her what the result was..She said it passed so we drove off..
About a minute later I remembered that the end of the cars exhaust was hanging off and still swinging around after I backed into a high curb 2 weeks before and just held on by a piece of wire that my BIL had fixed it with temporarily..
My point is that not one bit of smoke reached that damned probe and I passed.
500.00 smoke test fee well spent.
When they say its more fun in the R.P they aint ....... joking!!

Agree, dont know how they get away with it. We only have a scooter to potter around the barangay, but we have to have an emission test every year when we tax the scooter. The test computer takes a date stamped photo of the engineer doing the test.

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte says most Americans are idiots
US citizen's 'should just shut up', flamboyant leader tells an audience

Harriet Agerholm @HarrietAgerholm Friday 23 December 201612

Philippines' independent rights watchdog says it will investigate Mr Rodrigo's claims of killing people reuters
President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte has declared “for every five Americans, three are idiots".

The flamboyant leader made the comments after receiving international condemnation for his claims that he enjoyed driving around killing people during his term as mayor of Davao City.

“The problem with these white people,” Mr Duterte told an audience in mixed English and Tagalog on Thursday, “these American blockheads, is that for every five Americans, three out of five are idiots, and only two are in their right minds".

“You Americans should just shut up,” he added, according to Philippine TV outlet ABS-CBN.

The US has threatened to halt a major aid package to the country over concerns about extrajudicial killings in the leader’s war on drugs, which has left at least 6,000 dead.

In response, the leader threatened to tear up an agreement that allowed US troops to visit the Philippines.

On Thursday the Philippine independent rights watchdog said it will begin a probe into Mr Rodrigo's claims of personally killing people. It comes after the UN human rights chief called for an official investigation.
