Duterte: No compelling reason to declare martial law

MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he agrees with the military that there is no compelling (http://news.abs-cbn.com/news/01/16/17/no-compelling-reason-yet-to-declare-martial-law-says-afp) reason yet to declare martial law.
Duterte made this clarification after he said over the weekend that he will declare martial law if the drug problem in the country worsens into something “virulent.”

I was here just after Marcos suspended martial law.
Many locals seemed to enjoy living in Manila during that time,especially married women as their husbands had no time to visit their mistresses!! I was told by many that life was orderly ,safe and practically crime free.
I guess things were not so good for people that were involved in opposition politics or those that decided to spend their days protesting and speaking out publicly against the Marcos clan.
