Gorden Kaye has died, aged 75.

..... :yeahthat:'s how his actual forename was spelt!

Famously played the part of French Resistance Cafe owner, Rene in the long~running BBC comedy series, 'Allo, Allo' during the 1980s.

But he took on other non-comic roles, besides ... most notably, as Elsie Tanner's nephew in ITV's Coronation Street around a decade or so earlier.

Very nice bloke. He lived two minutes walk from me. Met him several times many years ago when we were raising funds to send under privileged kids on day trips for the youth service. Always gave generously.

I was gutted to read this a day or so back. I was a great fan of 'Allo 'Allo and saw the stage version when it toured in Manchester in the mid 90s I guess. When interviewed, Gorden always came across as a nice guy. RIP Gorden, you gave us some great laughs.
