I wonder when they'll bring their people out of the dark ages to properly share in these oil money trinkets and bling. :Erm:

Oh well, as long as their airlines remain cheap, I'll continue to humour them. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

The dark ages :icon_lol:
Probably one of the most modern cities in the world!
Oil makes up 5% of Dubai's revenue, 50% comes from tourism and financial services and that doesn't include travel which makes up a further 12%.
We could learn a thing or 2 from those that live in the dark ages.

Yep, 10-15 years ago they were very backward, lots of deaths in construction and people treated badly. Nowadays it is very different. Sheik Mohammed is really moving things forward, a bit more cautiously since the 2009 crash but Dubai is booming compared to most other places in the world (its just not booming like Dubai used to ... unsustainably). Don't act drunk in public, insult anyone or have unpaid debts and you'll love life (IMO those things are big negatives in our society).

I still prefer living in Europe though...

Not sure I want to take a drone taxi though, or the hyperloop they are building. Someone else can be cannon fodder for now :-) But then being in the technology business I know better and avoid anything too 'new' - I avoided flying on the A380 and 787 until they were a year or two into service as well ;-)

Obviously I'm referring to their religious nonsense.

Silly me, I didn't realise their religion was based on oil, money, trinkets and bling :icon_lol:
