My experience of the British Embassy in Manila was very good, I'm pretty sure an appointment will have to be made:xxgrinning--00xx3:

Thanks michael, mixed reviews on their facebook page my sis told me,not much factual info on there either,if only it was as simple as picking a phone up and booking an appointment,my nephew is wondering if he will have to take his girlfriend and child from cebu-manila and register the baby as he is only there for five weeks while the child is born and to get the paperwork sorted out.

No need to register, so not wasting of your time.

I don't have any idea where the British Embassy is in Manila, we have passed the American one many times.
Plus I have been somewhere to check my passport stamp and that was near China town.
My memory in names is rubbish, but I am sure I could still get there.

My experience with the British Embassy is that you have to book an appointment to apply for visa or passport. This is what it says on the website...
Register a birth abroad
You must register your child’s birth according to the regulations in the country where the child was born. They’ll give you a local birth certificate.
This local birth certificate should be accepted in the UK, eg when you apply for a passport or register with a school or doctor. You might need to have it translated and certified if it isn’t in English.

Once you’ve registered locally you may also be able to register the birth with the UK authorities. You can only do this if the child was born on or after 1 January 1983.

You don’t need to register with the UK authorities but it means:

the birth will be recorded with the General Register Offices or at the National Records Office of Scotland
you can order a consular birth registration certificate
You can still apply for a UK passport for your child even if you don’t register the birth in the UK.

Our other members can also add tbeir opinion and advice regarding this matter.
But all in all the service I experienced in UK embassy was very good. They are all straightforward and so friendly. Make sure you turn off your mobile once you get there as a protocol. Thanks and goodluck.

A confirmed appointment is a must. ID's must be submitted so take 2 min.

Just a question Tawi, but what's the reason behind going to all that hassle just to register the birth ?

There's absolutely no need for a consular birth registration these days.
A local birth certificate is completely OK including for UK passport applications.

As far as Im concerned the Brit embassy is a visa revenue agency ONLY these days..They couldnt care less about British citizens abroad any more.
If they cant make money from you from filling in a form or making you jump through their pathetic hoops, just give them a miss if you can avoid them!!
Waste of space IMHO.
