Approved today.
Senate Bill No. 1277 aka The Free Internet Access in Public Places Act

Judging by reports on TV it seems to be quite a bit faster than most folks expected averaging at 5Mbps

I'm not sure just what the coverage will be like now or what the strategy is for next year. But essentially it's a free internet service in all public spaces, local government offices, educational institutions including universities and colleges, public hospitals and health centers, public parks, plazas, libraries, airports, seaports, and public transport terminals.

Enjoy.

PS I haven't tried it anywhere yet so can't comment on the quality or speed but it's a great idea. IMHO

So they make a law and then suddenly the Philippines is no longer an internet laggard in Asia??
Why didn't they think of that before??
In reality, free internet for all will be a huge drain on the bandwidth that paying customers pay through the nose for!!
Death penalty served by broken and utterly useless Justice system..
Free internet..Slow to No service nationwide. (apart from Global city)
More fun in the Philippines because they make us laugh so much it hurts...
