Gunfire and explosions heard near Resorts World in Manila

Gunfire and explosions have been heard near a hotel complex close to the airport in the capital of the Philippines.
One video posted on Twitter showed crowds of people rushing out Resorts World late at night and in another the sound of weapons being fired could be heard.
"I live right behind Resorts World ... and you can see the smoke and hear gunshots and people are shouting at each other," one witness said in a video posted on Facebook.
Swat teams and ambulances have reportedly been sent to the scene.
The complex, opposite the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, includes four hotels, casinos, a shopping centre, cinemas, restaurants, clubs and a theatre.
The Philippines is currently battling Islamic State militants in the south of the country.
Islamic State flags have been spotted around Marawi and images have been circulated of smiling fighters dressed in the black clothing and posing with stolen government weapons and armoured vehicles hit by rocket-propelled grenades.

Sadly this is the World we live in nowadays, no-one is safe just some places are safer than others, i hope no-one is seriously injured and the perpetrators are caught.

At least 25 injured and ISIL have already claimed responsibility.

Manila police have issued a statement that they are in control of the situation. It will be a goddam miracle if they are, considering the incident has only just happened :NoNo:

My wife and our baby boy are in Manila at the moment (Paranaque).

Fortunately they'd have been sleeping when all this went down.

That's good to hear Graham  Manila chief of police has changed the story now, no one's been shot, no one's claimed responsibility and a guy with an assault rifle set fire to some tables in a hotel. :Erm: What caused that blaze and the car damage and where do all of the reports of gunfire come from? :anerikke::Erm:

It went from bomb and gun attack on complex....to Isis claiming responsibility.....to lone gunman setting fire to tables and no one dead.....to Manila police issuing a statement that everything was under control and there was no shooting..........now 36 are dead.......it always looks different once the smoke clears as Graham said. :NoNo:

Manila police have just issued a statement that they have a person of interest who is a Filipino :Erm: which contrasts with an earlier statement by Philippine National Police chief Gen. Ronald.dela.Rosa who said they had the charred remains of the suspect who he describes as "foreign-looking". Oh well, it will all come out in the wash as my nana used to say.

RIP to all those poor souls who lost their lives.

I would imagine the Phils govt. will not want to put foreigners off from visiting their country, so who knows what spin will be put on this sad affair ?

Its the same guy in both of those pics even down to the same shoes and emblem on his T-shirt or jacket, when he is standing theres light above him on the stairwell,he has a pinoy look, theres actually two separate statements on youtube from the one guy,the ceo I think of the casino, conflicting, one he says the security guards didn't engage the guy for fear of escalating the situation, another he says the security team shot the gunman, its more fun in the Philippines :Erm:
