Here's wishing you all a very happy new year
Does my wife have to have a tax paying job to qualified to gain her 10 year visa?
At the moment she does not a proper job registered at the government job centres
She my wife has only been working as my carer from which I pay her from my own allowances
can anyone give me a simple straight answer to this question?
Thanks a lot

I don't think your wife needs to have a tax paying job to qualify for her 10 year visa. However, I would have thought any application for ILR would be looked on more favourably if she can show she has integrated into british society/way of life. Taking a job and paying tax would show that commitment. She can apply for any advertised job , it doesn't need to be one advertised via the jobcentre
I am a bit puzzled as to why you are paying your wife your carers allowance. Surely as man and wife you are the "same firm" and therefore you're equal?
Your wife will need to apply for a National Insurance number before she is able to work, if she hasn't already done so.

Yes that's normal. She can still take a job but, as I said before, will need a National Insurance number.
What I meant by "you're the same firm" is surely your money is her money so why do you need to pay her?
My wife had "no access to public funds" on her visa when she first came here until getting ILR. Within 3 months of arriving she had a small cleaning job, was paying National Insurance and a small amount of tax.
