Today marks three quarters of a century since hostilities in the Far East ceased. At which time I was just over a month short of my 1st birthday.


And, in common with the generation before mine - and my own - I'd long been aware that the Japanese had surrendered :ARsurrender: in 1945, though ... :anerikke: ... must confess :icon_sorry: to never having given much thought to the actual date itself.

- until today.

......... :yeahthat: was when I first realised the connection, because my daughter had been born on August 15 ... albeit in 1969 ... exactly a year earlier than any celebrations :xxparty-smiley-050: for the now very much historic event's 25th anniversary.
