Hello to all,

It's been awhile. Hope everyone is doing well.
This is Pamela. I have some questions about when to apply for citizenship after being granted ILR. I just submitted my application for ILR today and awaiting decision but my friend used the premium service,so she got the decision the day after she applied ILR.I have some argument with a friend that if married to a british citizenship, they can apply straight away after ILR is granted. However,it says on the website, you have to be physically present in the UK for the last 3 years before the Home office receives your application. I went home in the Philippines NoV 2019 and went back in the UK on Dec 20, 2019, my friend went home too on April 2019 for 2 weeks. Do you think she can apply straight away for citizenship as she's married to British Citizen?or Should she wait til April 2022 before she can apply for citizenship?
Thank you for clarification!

Regards,

Pam

Time you’ve spent outside the UK

You should not have:

- spent more than 450 days outside the UK during the 5 years before your application
- spent more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months
- broken any UK immigration laws (for example living illegally in the UK)

https://www.gov.uk/apply-citizenship-indefinite-leave-to-remain

Check the link I posted and it states there the residency requirement and when you can apply.

Yep... being away for a couple of weeks hols is fine.

The key is the no more than 90 days out of UK during any year. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Apply ...and good luck.
