Does anyone know if my sister-in law (Fil) has more rights than me (Bit) in terms of deciding where my wife lives?

Seems like you may have some very serious issues to sort out with your partner.

From my (several decades) experience, her family members will always trump YOU.

'Family' is everything in the Phils...and 'blood is thicker than water'.

Very different culture in Philippines. My wife is here in UK. but spends a lot of time each day on video calling her Sister who lives in Europe, then because of time difference often speaking to her mum and other relatives in Philippines early morning uk time.

Doesn’t bother me one bit, well unless I am watch tv!!

Only if you’re living in her basement.:Rasp:

Joking...!!!

You and your wife are a team, :xxsmilie_auslachen:and you should present a united front to your sister-in-law. You don’t have to ask or explain your reasons to her, as long as you and your wife are happy and comfortable with them.

My problem is that my wife is bipolar.

During a recent manic episode, she was taken - without my consent - to a hospital in Manila.

Can anybody tell me what my rights are in this matter?

She has 3 sisters. Two are in Dubai, and the third is in the USA.
They all get into my wife's head.
It's not where we live that bothers me. My wife is bipolar and is easily made to feel guilty.
I (used to) get along with her mother and sisters, but they have their ideas about "curing" bipolar disorder; Ideas about which I thoroughly disapprove.

You would think so, but she gets bullied by them.

You need to grow a pair and take control.. They do not respect weakness..You may be unpopular in the short term but long-term this strategy pays off.. It will be our 40th wedding anniversary in 2 years so I reckon I have attained some experience in these matters.. All that matters in your life depends on the decisions that you make... In the end it's all up to you how this is going to go!
