I am Jon an expat from the U.S. living in the phiilippines. My wife Ading and i have settled in Dumaguete Oriental Negros. Been here going on three years, four total in the Philippines. I have a lot of good info about the specifics of living here in our place. since I am new I won't post a link yet, but I have two sites one a blog and one a web directory to help folks learn a little about the place and culture.

Hope to be posting some helpful info, and when I pass the 15 post trial by fire I'll be very happy :-)

Lots of warm welcomes thanks, and I know I soon will get to know the local "characters" all forums have them, I just try to fit in. If a moderator will advise what and or when a signature link is OK I will comply.
I know that there are a lot of would be expats that have no clue, and I also want to extend an invitation to visit places like Dumaguete vs, Manilla or Cebu, which of course have their fans and detractors, but give a city hard edge to the Philippine experience. The provinces can be a pleasant difference.

Hi Al, everything is a go on your return from Manila, I had an inkling you might find me floundering around here. Bythe way, Al is the one who told me about this forum. And certainly it seems very neighborly here.

And yes there is lettuce, iceberg head lettuce, but small. Leaf lettuce also available, red and green, and if you look real hard you may even run into a Zuchini squash or two. We have some fine local markets where you can buy direct from the growers.

Well you guys are better men than me, despite my avatar, I stick to Pilsen or light most of the time. Alan usually drinks coke when he comes here, hmm. We will have to rectify that!

Too true Ricky. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Although I would prefer to describe myself as a 'tester' of alcohol rather than an outright alcoholic. Sounds much more - well - distinguished!
