Hi everyone.

My maganda asawa and I were married at the end of December in Surigao. We will be filing an online Settlement VISA appication within a few days. We first had to authenticate our marriage certificate before applying for new ID and a new passport for my wife bearing her married name.

We are hoping she will be here within 3 months. Unable to wait i will go back for 5 days next week and again in June when we pray her VISA will be granted. What a long and challenging journey but we are almost there.

Update!!

After travelling to Cebu to attend the pre-departure counselling my wife went to apply for her new passport in her married name only to be told that she could no longer process her passport there. She had then to go to Cagayan do Oro to make her application. This takes 3 weeks plus so she should now return on 28th to collect it.

In the meantime i sent my latest pay slips, flight stubs from my last trip to see her (mid March). It's now 4 weeks since I posted them along with my latest bank statements and they still have not arrived.

We are planning to file her application online on her return to Surigao. It is likely that when she receives her interview date she will travel to Manila with her mother and stay undertaking all the other required activities until such time as her visa is granted.

More updates to follow. Please keep us in your prayers. God bless you all!

Ordinarily I would use DataPost and send it to her University address. This time I used International Signed For and sent it to her barangay outside the city proper. I wish I had not done so but am hoping it will still arrive there soon. In te meantime i have requested duplicates of the payslips and bank statements.

I have finished most o our evidence info. I have 20 pages of photo collages broken down trip by trip. 2,000 pages of yahoo chats ( i have several screen prints of the actual message archives as well as all pages since the wedding and a few before), Chikka texts, mobile texts, emails, Western Union transfers and statements from my account that my wife uses t withdraw money in the pils. I have 2-page sponsor letter, property pics and mortgage details, employment letter, utility bills, passport sans and photocopies, etc.

I will send some of these by email for printing there, others will be sent by courier.

Can anyone advise on their recent experience securing a UK settlement VISA?

Hi Piamed,

Don't know how fast the on-line application takes but my wife filed her application in person at the Manila office on January 11th and recieved it on Feb 19th this year - so a little over 5 weeks . No interview was required

Good luck on your wifes application . BTW where about are you in the UK ?

sounds like you've got everything covered..

your international signed for could take many weeks, if it gets there at all, always use a courier for important papers... you can email some, but beware some papers have to be orginal or certified copies..

i don't remember anyone on here, not recently anyway, getting a spouse visa refused, so as long as you've proved you have a genuine 'relationship' with your wife :icon_lol:, you have somewhere for her to live and you got a bit of cash, you should be ok :xxgrinning--00xx3:, time period couple of weeks to 6wks seems the average wait for the result..

goodluck, don't worry :D
you'll be ok :xxgrinning--00xx3:

You seem organised and things look to be progressing well :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I am begining the same journey, my GF is still waiting for her ID - the very fist pre-requisite.

Things seem to take so long in Phils.

Thanks guys for the encouragement! I'm based in Leeds but traveling quite a bit currently. Oh, great news - the package arrived today! Hooray.

I'm really feeling optimistic and believing that if my wife gets her passport on 28th and files her application first week in May, travels to Manila to submit documents in the second week perhaps she could have her visa granted by end of July or earlier.

Hooray!

I thought I would give you all an update!

My wife (Sofi) now has her new passport bearing here married name and is on her way from Cagayan do Oro to Nasipit and then tomorrow on to Surigao.

She will complete the online application on Wednesday am with me online via Yahoo. Immediately afterwards she will go and pay the Spousal VISA application fee at the bank. I will also print & send the final copy of our chats, emails, texts etc. (over 2,000) via rapid courier also.

Then on Thursday she will go back online and try to schedule an appointment to submit her documents in Manila for May 12th. I will double check the steps but that is what I recall.

With the recent stories I have heard of rapid VISA processing with no interview we are both so hopeful that I will be able to go and we will be able to travel back together very soon. A great birthday present potentially.

I read your story above - sincere respect for the hard work and the careful planning that went into achieving your goal!! the hard work is certainly bearing fruit! After reading the things that you had to keep records of I'll make sure I do the same - thanks!
A Happy Future to both of you! :xxgrinning--00xx3:
