Hi nice to meet you. April hasnt submitted a application yet as we arent 100% on coming to the UK for several reasons.
1. I contract work and can be away from home for months sometimes within the UK.
2. If we live in the Philippines we dont have the running costs of the UK housing. Because I live in hotels or stop at my parents when im in the UK for work.
3. We have a house being built in Cebu aswell as hopefully buying neighbouring lots for goat breeding and a few other projects so a lot of things have to be managed back in Cebu.
Also the instability of the economy is making me unsure of investing in the UK
if the housing market collapses we may then move here. As we can put a hefty deposit on a house. But presently the costs are too high.
Have you got your visa?

Not yet. My wife submitted her aplication on 14th May. Still early days.
I'd love to move to da Phils at some point but cannot yet generate enough income while there to facilitate it. Trying a work transfer but the nearest I may be able to get is Singapore.
I hear about what you are saying about investing in the UK. Similarly, i would love to buy land in da Phils but one, my wife has not been to UK yet so i need her to determine what she would like best in terms of which country to live in before we consider it. Secondly, I feel as you said, that i would have to be there and familiarise myself with all the potential issues/regulations re. buying land before doing so. I understand it can be quite a pit-fall.

There are some serious pitfalls which is why im working on 5yrs returns on investments. Quite simply to bank it away from family etc. So if something serious happens will have money stashed for a retirement fund and emergency exit. Most issues seem to occur with families and if divorce happens. Business issues come from politics and greasing wheels which is an area im starting to get involved in. Give me time and i should be able to help with anything you want to get involved in for the future
