:Brick: I would like to make contact with Philippinos living in the UK for advice re the following. I have met a filipina via the internet & seek information/guidance on how to bring the two of us together. Due to the problems/impossibility of Philippine nationals obtaining work visas under the new UK immigration rules plus the problem of my friend's lack of assets to allow travel/entry to the Uk we've decided that the best way forward is for myself to travel to the Philippines, to marry there & then to seek permission for her to enter the UK at a later date. Is this the best route? I would greatly appreciate any advice that members were able to provide. I would also find it very useful to be able to talk directly with Filipinos ( either individuals or associations) located in the UK) with experience of these issues. Can anyone out there assist by providing appropriate contact details? Thank you in advance Ian

this is what the forum is for, read some posts, many were/are in a similiar position as you are.
you can always try a visitor visa, thou the reject rate is pretty high.
as for workpermit, is your g/f skilled ?
yes it's best for you to visit her, and wed her in the phils, cheaper and you can count on it being a sunny day , and many beautiful places in the phils :D
as for contacting other filipino's, :D everyone on here is either married to, engaged to, or are filipinas :doh
so ask away with any more questions you have

Hi istoney and welcome :)
Read Pete's website "Filipino UK" (details at the top of this web page) and get a good grounding there.
Lots of us in the UK are doing or have done what you have mentioned. I am "doing" !
Click on "search" on this forum and start reading.

Hi Istoney welcome to the forum, please follow the advise given, read the forum and other information websites then come back with questions for more advise, the process of marring in fils has steps to follow not terribly complicated but there is an order to do things and timing is important. A major point is to obtain a certificate of non impediment to prove you are free to marry, you can get this from your regional registrar takes 3 weeks but you must marry within 3 months of receiptif I remember correctly, read Petes site you will see the steps to take.
Good Luck.
