Here's an unusual one.

Has anyone had Eye laser surgery, either here in the UK or have you had it done in the Philippines.

I would imagine it's cheaper there.

Any experiences

Cheers

I have discounted the idea.

The long term benefits and problems have not been determined.

And as your eyes change with age, there is a good chance you may have to have it redone, or wear glasses anyway.

the misses wants it done here, and not in the phils, don't know why, shes not here to ask :D, but she must have looked into it being a doc, and wants it doing

but as soon as we've got the cash, after paying for naturalization, air tickets etc, could be a while yet :D

I have 3 friends in the UK who have had it done. They are delighted! They said they never felt any discomfort during the operation - only a little afterwards.

They can certainly see the benefits. :doh

I got it done about 8-10 years ago and have had no problems at all and would say to go for it. It cost me nearly a grand but think you can get it for about 500 per eye and it gave me much better sight....

I was thinking of laser eye surgery - left eye is badly short-sighted, in fact optician recommended to have laser surgery done. Not sure about the price though....

Rob it was because of being short - sighted in my right is the reason got it done but i had to pay full price even though it was only one eye but you should get it for about 500

Eljono,

What company did you use, because i have been told that would cost at least £900 per eye and the average is about £1700 per eye :yikes:

I had lasik treatment on both eyes 2 years ago in the Philippines. I used to wear eyeglasses since i was 12 years old. I was shortsighted. Until 2006, my lens grade was 300. Then i went to Dr. Laxamana, an eye specialist. His surgery clinic is located at Robinson mall in San Fernando Pampanga Philippines. We were about 8 patients on line to have the laser done that day. We watched the actual procedures on the monitor while waiting for our turns. The surgery lasted 30 minutes for both eyes. The first 3 days, my eyes were watery, swollen. Then gradually healed. Now, i don't need to wear eyeglasses anymore. It costs me only 45k phil pesos on both eyes. Most of his patients are professionals like lawyers, doctors, and even celebrities on movies and television. I just got his name when one celebrity thank him for her eye laser procedure. i think he has a site on the internet.

I got it sorted in a private place facing the City Hospital in Belfast but it was a few years ago but i still see this being advertised on tv being done in England for about 500 per eye so maybe Google it for the best price now..

Hello Shamrockdave2003, i had my laser eye surgery in manila last year.. my grade then was at 900.. yes, extremely high that i sometimes cant distingiush colors when i dont have my contact lenses on!.. cost me about 82k for the whole treatment. including check ups after the surgery and medicine.. i had it done by asian eye institute in makati.. its just near rockwell mall.. i also know that you can also get laser treatment from american eye center in shangrila mall for about 72k for both eyes.. you might want to try both of those centers if you are planning to have it in manila..
