Dear Mr Big Boss
Is there any way I can use the Private Messaging facility please.
I am a good boy and will not spam or advertise to other members. I promise.
Yours in Anticipation

Just go to UserCP then on the left hand side go to "Settings And Options" then "Edit Options" then tick the box marked "Enable Private Messaging" :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Mr Win2Win, I have 3 green cards on my profile but my rep is stuck on zero.
Before I had 1 green card and I was away and running.
Does some magic needs weaving? or have I misunderstood again
Thanks you for your attention oh Great One. ;)

It all adjusts automatically the same for everyone.
Do a meaningful thread on a topic containing useful advice, and you get more Rep for that kind of thing, rather than just random posts.
Pete get loads of Rep for his educating posts :xxgrinning--00xx3: .........I get bugger all

To clarify my understanding. All reputation settings are in effect decided by The Great Boss. Is that correct? or have I misunderstood again? Because in my profile it says I have 20 rep points from the 3 green awards I have - and 0 appears on my posts.
I hate to carry on about this but as you, Oh Great One, says on the original Reputation thread
"When people read through the site, they will see which members to pay particular attention to, and are more likely to believe what they say"
It that iis the purpose of this reputation business then only the moderators will ever be believed as they have a reputation points score far in excess of everyone else. I am sure that there were noble reasons behind what was probably designed for the whole community to decide who has valuable insights into the subjects discussed on here. However the implementation seems to be along the lines a count of how many "great posts" one makes and if someone's opinion about what constitutes a decent post diffea from The Great One then that defeats the whole purpose as the ordinary user's opinion has been squashed.
I understand that this will appear as sour grapes but I don't give two hoots about this reputation business - I just would like the abilty to send a private message as and when. In my opinion it seems to be a good way to divide the community into cliques. Individual (new?) readers can easily work out for themselves who has pasted decent advice in the past rather than assuming that they will rely on some green dots which have been awarded by random users in an uncontrolled way (e.g. some users will give rep points and most probably won't even bother).

See above :)
The useful advice: put the new away you've played with enough now :D

You'll find those that have posted useful info in the past have the most Rep. That is how it has worked for years. Works fine on all my forums, the people VOTE, not me.
Everyones count works to the same formula.
The Mods have more because they usually have more posts, post more useful info. I seldom give Rep out as when I do it's a big wad, so only those who post something extremely useful to many folk get it.
Eljean only has 400 posts, but high Rep, post are quality, search for them.

Isn't democracy an 'uncontrolled way', that is why it is democracy :doh

Everyone's votes count. Great. But it doesn't sound from your explanation that it is "1 member, 1 vote". it seems to be "Banana: (and lots of other users in the same position) get 0 votes whereas others get (I have no idea but for argument purposes) 10 points and (from a similar analysus) 1000 points. Great.
Can you explain to me how I have 3 positive reps and no negative ones and, according to User CP I have 20 rep points and yet I have 0 rep points on all my posts.
Thanks.

Not fussed about reps and all that myself in fact i ran an experiment a while back using a brand new name no reps, blobs what have you when posting some advice and i gained rep and thanks you for the help on a post.
Back then some people were handing rep for silly things but the managment here stopped that thankfully and took away some of the pointless rep score.
I was seeing reps given to me which i was like:Erm:
But if you really do help someone or they help you it is nice to send some to say thanks or be thanked.
Alot of people hang round this site once they have done most of the processes and procedures, to thank Mr admin and all the users for the Site by helping others and therefore making his site more sucessful.
People just want to share info and need advice/support i think most people on here can see like you say if the advice is useful or not.
