hi everyone! i'm just new here. i know there are a few posts regarding student visa application but they all happened many months ago. can someone share his/her recent experience applying for student visa? some of my school mates received their visa after 2 weeks (that was may 2008) but in my case i've been waiting for 3 weeks now (15 working days to be exact). i dunno if its normal to feel like depressed, worried, mixed emotions i can't really explain.

i've tried online tracking but it always says "forwarded to british commission...." i didn't go out for the past 3 weeks now i'm looking forward the courier service will knock at my door with good news. :)

Hi Doonat,
If you read WalesRob's post http://filipinaroses.com/showthread.php?t=9295 it may be that this might have something to do with the hold up.
Iain.

1 month and 2 days? that was too long... i thought it will take 10 to 15 days for non-settlement? when is the start date of your class/training in UK?

doonat
25th July 2008, 04:44
classes is this coming september 3 2008. i guess its the peak season thats y its taking up so long... a friend of mine got his visa after 1.5 month, while my other friend got it in just 2 weeks, they both applied the same time i guess it really depends on the applicant.

i applied last june 23, coz they say the embassy wouldn't issue a visa longer than 2 months prior to the start of the class...

Hello Doonut! I am applying for a student visa soon (just waiting for some docs from Univ of Greenwich ie Visa Letter)... my sister will be sponsoring me, what docs did u submit with regards to financials.. any tips? Thanks in advance!!!!

doonat
15th August 2008, 13:03
if your sister is here in the philippines, you need to show she has the financial capability to support you. submit orig documents like income tax return, bank statements (millions) or bank certificate, proof of properties owned (like land titles, car, house & lot), other sources of income like stocks, and affidavit of support stating she is willing to spend for your education. if she has business, include business permit, etc...

if she's abroad, bank statements for the last 6 months, pay slips, credit card statements, any remittance slip, etc..

so far that's all i can remember. check the uk embassy for other docs needed. goodluck on your appplication! :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Thanks for the reply Doonat :) Btw, my sister is a British Citizen

One more question pls:

Is it that important that I demonstrate that I will go back here in the Philippines after studies (like in the previous immig rules) or just answer neutral e.g. for the question "what are you going to do after you finish all your studies in the UK"

Thanks again!

doonat
15th August 2008, 18:15
you're welcome! :)

for better chances of getting a visa you must convince them you're really coming back after your studies (like putting up ur business or be employed in a prestigious company or whatever valid reasons you can think of). i know you can't help to tell the truth but a simple lie can make a difference :icon_lol:

got to go now, i have a plane to catch in 12 hrs. :BouncyHappy::BouncyHappy:

does the evidence of support from my sponsor is enough for the funds i need to show in applying visa? or its still needed for me to have my own personal bank account?

regarding affidavit of support, does my sponsor really need to specify how much amount of money she will provide for me?
or just the statement that she will support me financially, and my accommodation is already enough proof.

it is necessary to show both a letter from your sponsor stating details of their support and evidence of their financial position and circumstances in documents such as bank statements, evidence of employment and details of assets owned.

your sponsor must be able to show that they have the finances to support you, if you don't have the money to pay for your course, then your sponsor must show they can afford to pay it.

so maybe they should have cash in the bank to cover at least 1yr of your fees, and other expenses to help get your visa.

Hi sorry for the late reply, yes in regards to my friend refusal the ECO didn't found credible reason to her application..She finished BS Nursing she didn't take yet Licensure examination and The ECO didnt satisfy her reasons to study in UK just to uplift her knowlege (etc...)on the said skills:cwm34: instead they adviced her to take the review here in PHil coz cheaper compare to the expenses she will paid for her study in UK:doh but she made an appeal clarifying her concerns:Erm::xxgrinning--00xx3:

both! :icon_lol: 2 days school and 3 days work. working hours is authorized by the school and the nursing home.

having £10k fund in your account does not guarantee you a visa. it takes a lot to convince the ECO about your purpose why you want to study in uk.

To be honest it was always likely you were going to have a problem - 7 working days ain't long enough to get a student visa issued.

Have you contacted the Admissions Office at the place where you are going to study to see if they will let you enroll late for the course?

hehehe.yeah always got a problem.

yeah i already contact them. they said i can enroll about two weeks late.
but i think i cannot make it. coz when i called the vfs yesterday, they said the embassy is still on the october student applicants. so probably ill get my visa within feb or march.
which is so bad. probably ill just wait for it and ask for another acceptance letter from the institution for the next term which is september.

hi there. can i ask you how long did he stayed in the us? because if he has all the means (money, properties, bank statements, previous work, etc..), then you can still use him as sponsor. also try to weight things between you and your sponsor like knowing how many dependent he has, does he have a good credit history, and other info that can establish his ability to support your studies.

and to be safe dont mention your sponsor is studying, or he can declare his status as "retired" employee.

I have been refused last year under student visa category. It is also a matter of chance or luck. I know UK immigration is so stiff and stringent. As much as they could find a reason or reasons for u to be refused, they will. But, what the heck, if they get refused, then, why not retry... they sometimes only need u to come back to show how genuinely you are seeking to study in the UK. Good luck and let's hope for the best!

Easy, all documents that are originally written in a non-english language must be professionally and accurately translated into English... so as to where you must have done it, I am sure, any legal or professional translators will do, as long as it is notarized and sealed by a solicitor afterwards, that the translation is correct and well-translated as it is from the original language text... Upon submission of your requirements, the original paper and its translated english text must go together ...hope this helps...

Hi there!

Are you sure that they just started to process the November first week applicants?

Is it for all types of visa or just the student visa?

I applied a settlement visa last Nov 24,2008 and still waiting for the result.I've waited for 11 weeks this coming Monday.

Members of these forum got their result already and they applied same week as mine so I think it depends on the documents u submitted and the background check that's why it took long time for the result.

Good luck to all of us.

Wish to have a positive result soon.

perhaps it really depends on the type of student visa, or the documents that you have coz, I know persons who lodge documents last dec 18 and 19 and had their results already last week of january. according to vfs, the estimated time is usually 30 to 60 days anything late than that maybe normal but, you should have asked why its taking so long for your docs, anyays, we need to wait and just hope for the best....

after 65 WORKING DAYS I GOT MY RESULT and WELL AS EXPECTED
submitted my docs Nov12 08..released feb20 09

REFUSED :cwm23:

Hehehehehehe.. Sorry if some part is tagalized.hehehe

REASON? AS EXPECTED i wont put it into details or the actual words kasi halos lahat ng mga pinaglalagay niya dun eh lahat PROBABILITY.

1. Hindi naniwala ang ECO na magaaral ako dun. KUNDI magwowork lang daw ako ng FULL-TIME to earn money..to pay my bills, accomodation and tuition.

im furious coz they dont have enough basis proofs or such..just a probability.

2. Hindi naniwala ang ECO na susupport ako ng daddy ko for all of my expenses. and we dont have enough funds. Since he wont be able to support me.. I will resort to work more than the allowed working hours for students.

what??????I HAVE COMPLETE DOCS and with our savings account ITS TOTALLY ENOUGH FOR MY EXPENSES. with the affidavits and such,,Eh mukhang hocus pocus lang ang ginawang pagcheck sa papers ko. At lalo akong nabadshot coz puro hula ang mga reason..

Hindi sa pagmamayabang napakalaki ng bank certificates na sinubmit ko almost Php9.5m with land titles, business and car regs.
and what I get is a LOUSY REASON?

Hindi mo talaga maintindihan itong mga ECO. Hindi marunong mag background check. Bigay lang ng bigay ng kung ano anong reason. without enough proofs. Mukhang tamad na tamad sa trabaho nila. Im really pissed.
Kahit na complete and documents mo DENIED. Minsan kahit sablay ang DOCS..APPROVE..

They gave me a chance to appeal but I doubt it. mapraning lang ako sa kakahintay and to the fact na i need a representative.. another 35 thousand on my pocket.

Mas mabilis pa magre apply instead na magappeal. The only problem e ang VFS. Puno na ang slot at jam packed na ng NVQ Applicants until MAY. What kind of service is that.. Naging regional hub ang manila and then the Visa section lacks resources big time.

For those na nagpplano mag student visa.. think twice..or even a hundred times before kayo magdecide to do it. its a 50/50 chance. In my part i just wanted to study there and maybe padagdag sa work experience and experience to live by myself. heheh..if you want to score a lot of money in UK well student visa is not the way.

Anyway Im planning to reapply again hehe. There is always a second chance.hehe

Hi Pao,

Sorry to hear that. Anyways the ECO are crazy. I think they are only guessing and if they aren't tired then they will approve it but if ever they do then they will refuse you..

Now it made me scared about my visa application as I've waited for 3 months and still no result..Like yours imagine 65 working days and your expecting to get a positive result and OMG that's too frustrating after all the waiting.

I really don't know about the outcome of my visa but you're absolutely right that there's a chance to reapply..Who knows maybe next you will be approve?..

Well thank you very much for posting about your visa result and I do hope you will have whatever you desire when you apply for next time..

Till here and may God bless us all..

Wish us luck!

i also want to share my denied student visa experience :D

all documents are complete.too bad i was denied last january. damn!

reasons:

1.wrong choose of course: I choose IT Systems Support for Network Professionals - Level 3 Diploma in NESCOT.

They told me that its better for me to study it here in philippines. Hell no such thing of that combination of course here. I also put in my application the reason that's why i want to study there because the equipments there are not outdated like in the schools here. you can only handle new equipment here in huge companies.

My first choice of course is Msc Network Infras. but I can't get the 6.5 grade in IELTS.
I already took it twice, i still got 6.0. damn! They also can't believe that im willing to leave my job just to study there. They said im already an IT officer and I still want to study for a diploma course in UK. Hello, IT Officer in Phil is < Technician in UK lol

2. Mistake again - I only submitted evidence of support from my sponsor. They said I must have my own money or I submitted my own bank statement to support my self also.
they got a point in there.

3.They just don't believe that I am going to finish my curriculum in UK. I haven't started yet they already predicted that, they are so good. But im not that idiot to do that.

I just want to share this to warn also other applicants. If you are a college graduate make sure you are going to take better or higher course.
it should be Msc or Post-Graduate diploma. Also, make sure you have your own money in the bank that will support your self (6 months bank statement)

I wish that's the way also how our embassy filtered them going here. bitter :)

Not sure if I will still going to apply again. Probably I'll try to retake IELTS exam again.

another tip, if you are rich enough. go to uk first for visit visa. then when you came back here you apply your student visa so that you can apply for the fastrack.
everybody in the application office is applying for student visa. hehehe

some tips:

- make sure you have ALL documents you can think of. As in EVERYTHING.its better to have so much than lack thereof. bring show money!!! its all about the money these days sadly :(
- the more money you can show, the higher your chances. Why? it will show that if something goes wrong, you an be supported.
- wear glasses to look smart and look innocent. :D
- always mention youre going back to the philippines to work after studying. (seriously they love hearing that..)
- they asked me during the interview if BSc Biomedical Sciences (my degree) is available in the philippines. i said no, i plan to study that as my pre-med and im coming back to do medicine in manila. i think it worked though. hehe
- smile, be charming and innocent. ;)
- if you want to study here, make sure you apply in universities not colleges (theres a difference, look this up). if u get in a "university" and you show them your acceptance form, and they know you can support yourself when something goes wrong, i think they will give you a visa.

They gave me 3 years multiple entry. When it expired, and i opted for the 4 yr track for my course..the International Students Office in my university did all the renewing of visa for me. i just filled up forms and gave them my passport.

so good luck to whoever wants to apply!! :)
