Because of twisting forces 'caused by the earths rotation...
When you unplug a washing basin in the northern hemisphere, the water spirals down the plughole in a clockwise direction, and when you unplug a washing basin in the southern hemisphere, the water spirals down the plughole in an anticlockwise direction.
True or False?

It's false I'm afraid....very popular myth though.:xxgrinning--00xx3: There is a force caused by the earths rotation, called "Coriolis force" but it doesn't effect the water down the plughole.:cwm12:

The Earth is wider at the Equator, than Pole to Pole?

My guess is that it probably is wider..:Erm: no? I've heard the earth doesn't rotate perfectly either...it sort of wobbles....is that right?

Spin anything, and the faster it goes the more it tries to fling everything out. You can easily see it when making pottery, so the Earth is wider around the Equator.......however, this hard fact of physics falls apart when it comes to galaxies, and if you know why you'll be famous and probably have a spacecraft named after you. :)

True or False? A bulge in the Earth's crust constantly follows the Moon

True or False? A bulge in the Earth's crust constantly follows the Moon  Has this got something to do wtih the moon controlling our tides? :Erm: I'd say yes it's true!

Is it also true that gravity is stronger at the two poles?

Gravity changes all around the globe depending on the thickness of the Earth's crust.
