Before they can study here, foreign students must:

be sponsored by a UKBA-licensed education institution;

prove that they have the means to support themselves and their families while studying here; and

supply their fingerprints.

Students on courses for longer than 12 months will have to show they have sufficient funds to pay their first year of fees, plus £9,600 :yikes: to cover their first year in the UK. Students wishing to bring their dependants with them will need to show they have a further £535 per month for each person they bring :yikes:.

Once in the UK students will face ongoing checks.:NoNo:

'The colleges will have to prove they are genuine education institutions - not just routes into low skilled work.' and 'Stricter rules on work placements for students will also ensure that the UK's labour market is protected.' - could this be the end of nvq's courses for foreign students ?

Joe i know some owners and heads of English language and technical colleges in london.
Many students dissappear and will find out what is the minimum they can get away with. They also joke about students who get in to lower level of english speaking class than that would challange them so they could basically cruise though and work at the sametime.

All of these immigration posts you're putting up Joe are actually bugger all to do with the UK government. All this is now Europe wide law, that was put together by the French last month, and voted and passed. This is to make the immigration pretty much the same across the EU.
