I am getting married in the Philippenes but someone mentioned to me that it won't be recognised in England...... is this true? If yes then do i need to do anything or show any documents back in the UK?

your marriage cert is all the evidence you need

yes it's recognised in the uk, a marriage would be recognised as valid here provided that it complied with the law of the country where it took place and the couple had the legal capacity to marry under their law(s) of domicile.

not a problem with the phils, but only thing is get your marriage cert translated into english if it's not in english

The UK has accepted foreign marriages since the Foreign Marriage Act 1892. If the marriage is recognised by the country it takes place in, the UK accepts it.

This is what the Civil Registrar in Poole, Dorset told us:

"If the marriage is valid in the place where it was solemnised, it is also valid in the UK".

So go ahead, get married in the Philippines. A lot easier and a lot cheaper. And she can have all the family around her on the special day.

Wish you all the best. God bless...
