Seven great weeks in Phils and now my mahal is my wife

Getting the correct documents took a lot longer than I'd anticipated as the local registrar office were over-cautious with everything.

We had the civil wedding in Daanbantayan, Cebu which didn't last that long - I needed to have a piece of paper on the desk to remember the sentences! Strange that the moments are so important that the brain switches off
We travelled on a pumpboat over to Carnaza where Rochelyn is from for the feast. The whole village joined in and it was a lovely day.

I had to leave Rochelyn at Cebu City airport and I'm sure there are many of you out there who know how bad that can be with your loved one.
Leaving your new wife seems so wrong and sad.

So, we are going for the spousal visa now.
Can someone point me to a post that explains everything easily?
I did a search but just wonder if there is a post which explains how things are now.

Q1. Can Rochelyn apply for her passport in her married name with her ID's and a copy of the certificate of marriage from the local registrar office?
Or does she have to wait for the NSO marriage certificate?

Q2. When applying for the spousal visa, does she have to wait for the NSO marriage cerificate?

There will be many questions to follow...I hope it won't take too long to get the stamp in her passport when she gets it.

To answer your question, your wife can apply for spouse visa even if her passport still shows her maiden name. From what I read in this forum, others were able to apply for spouse visa with just a marriage certificate issued by LCR. But for my case, I was asked to submit NSO marriage certificate so I requested for an early endorsement to NSO upon filing in Pasay LCR. It took me 3 weeks before I got a copy of my NSO marriage certicificate. You may want to check www.vfs-uk-ph.com to know more on spouse visa application (what are the required supporting documents). Or you can use the SEARCH facility in this forum to find the answers that you need because there are already a number of post made on spouse visa application.

Pia had her passport changed to her married name although others have not so been advised and had no probs. My understanding is that she must wait for NSO certificate. We did.

I too will soon be applying for my spousal visa. As i think it will be more convenient for me in the future to used my husband's surname already on my passport (as Scotland is a bit further from london...philippine embassy's location) i undergo cfo seminar and councelling first in cebu. Its a requirement when a filipino/filipina married a foreign national and want to use his/her spouse surname.
The address has been mention here on the forum before and when your wife shall go there...let her bring
a. applicant's birth certificate
b. marriage certificate
c. divorce papers (recopy)
d. 2 or more valid i.d's.
e. spouse's birth certificate ( Recopy)
f. passport if one has applied for a passport before and it is still valid
g. pictures of the two of you
If all is completed within the day...seminar and councelling. One can get the cfo certificate (Color blue and green) in just one day. When visa is granted one can get the sticker immediately also just present the color green cfo certificate at the CFO office.
Then i went to DFA (department of Foreign Affairs) in my place. Then apply for my passport...750 pesos for 11 days processing and 500 pesos for 20 days processing. DFA requires these
1. Birth Cerificate in Security Paper (SECPA) issued by the National Statisctics Office (NSO) or Certified True Copy Of BC by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by NSO.
2. Three (3) colored photos (Royal Blue Background)
3. Marriage Certificate in security paper issued by NSO or True Copy issued by Local registrar duly authenticated by NSO. And any of these other supporting documents
a. PRC ID
b. land title
c. driver's license
d. Government Service Record
e. Old SSS-E1 form /digitized SSS-ID
f. School form 137 or Transcript of records
g. Voter's Registration Record
h. Baptismal Certificate
i. Income tax return
j. Other documents that show full name and birth details of applicant and citizinship.

It really is heart-warming, especially as I have been feeling low since leaving her in Cebu.
I suppose so many of you out there have been, or are going through, the wait.
I am not finding it easy, perhaps that is testament to the love of a Filipina.
I thought I knew about feelings but the constant tidal wave of affection that came my way recently whilst over there has left such a big empty space now.
It will get easier when her fever goes away and she lives on the mainland next to an internet cafe with skype. I cannot make voice contact with her at the moment, only text.

So it seems she should wait for the NSO marriage certificate and then go for her passport with her new family name.

Without opening up that loooong thread about the misappropriation of funds via Western Union, the Uncle was at Rochelyn's sister's wedding 3 weeks earlier than ours; he hid behind people all the time.
He still owed her P1,500 and I phoned him a week later to tell him to pay her.
The money arrived the next day.
As some of you may remember, he caused us a lot of grief.
It was closure for me and it brought a smile to Rochelyn's face.

I went for cfo first in cebu cause that is one of the requirements for the issuance of passport for a filipina whos spouse is a foreign national and opted to use their husband's surname.

.......Per Republic Act 8239 and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Order 28-94, Filipinos proceeding abroad as fiancé(e)s and spouses of foreign nationals are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling programs as a pre-requisite to the issuance of passports.

For the question can your wife Rochelyn apply already, it is said that an MC from the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by the NSO is also acceptable to them. But usually this does not happen so, specially in your case that the marriage just happened recently. The NSO has not yet have it in their system registered.
Just have your MC be electronic endorse to the NSO, all she got to do is to go to the Local Civil Registry where your marriage is registered, she will be ask to pay a small amount to have it she can have it then in a maximum of a month (longest time).
