Hi Guys,

My Wife and daughter arrived today on Settlement visa's.

They both have pinoy passports, now i know in 24 months the wife must apply for ILR, but what about my daughter?
Can she just apply for British Citizenship now? making her settlement visa no longer relevant. (She is aged 3)

i take it your british ? and is she your daughter or your step daughter ?

if your a brit and she is your bio daughter who was born in the phils, then shes is british by decent thru you

just apply for a british passport for her

I am British.

She is my biological daughter born in the Phillippines, thats good news.

I'm not gonna have someone chasing us coz we have not applied for ILR for her?

what i know even the baby live in phils but mom or dad is foreighner.it is ok to apply them a passport[ where the parents came from or what country they came from]

what vbkelly is saying, you should have applied for a British passport for her, from the brit embassy in manila, saved yourself the settlement fee for her

Yeah i guess she can have best of both worlds now.

I thought it would be better for mum and daughter to apply for visa together, therefore giving a better chance for acceptance.

The answer is Yes. She's entitled to apply for British Citizenship and also don't forget to claim her Child Benefit.

I also want to add, because your daughter is very young get her registered with GP asap and you can even include her mum too!

and, something to remember for the future , your daughter is British by decent, so when she has her own kids, under present laws, they will not be British if they are born outside the uk !!!
