What is the reasonable fee?

I met a filipina in my area and asked her if she can do some stuffs for me. She agreed and said this is what she does back home and so she does the ironing perfectly. She accepts laundry, ironing from fellow friends here as she can't work on regular basis for she is an overstayer.

She said she needs some cash on hand. I asked her if she can do the house cleaning, nail polishing and hair dying. What do you think is the reasonable fee?. She said i let her do the stuffs first and see the results before paying. I prefer to know the fee before i hire her so there will be no conflict. Suggestions are welcome. Many thanks.

is she going to do the house cleaning everyday or weekly? for me I think £20-£25 is enough for all of those..but still it depends if u're really happy with her performance and with ur budget..

There's a company around Coventry and Nuneaton called Maid-To-Clean who specialise in this sort of thing and my wife worked for them a little while after being recommended to them by another local Filipina. Their customers pay the girls £6.00 per hour minimum, but most would normally round it up to say £20 or even £25 for 2 or 3 hours or so. They obviously have to pay the agency commision on top of this. I think it definately would be best to agree an hourly rate with her before she starts working for you.

you can pay her as a national minimum fee,to be honest she's an overstayer here and nobody here in england employ her bcoz of her visa status.

, oh the stories i've read about overstayers, one guy came on a 6 month visitor visa in 1999, and now he has 3 kids with his g/f, who is also an illegal immigrant. it would not surprise me if there was 1 million illegal immigrants in the uk.

Although I don't agree with illegal immigration and overstayers in general, I find your suggestion really hard to swallow (no puns Keith, please...).

As opposed to reporting the girl, which would cause extreme hardships on her and family, I would have suggested to NOT employ her at all, in view of the fact that the law would come down much harder on the employer than the employee in case of discovery....

But that's me.....

nothing unless an immigration officer stops them b4 they try and board the plane, which is only a small chance, and if they do, they might stamp their passport that they've overstayed, or at worse maybe interview them and give them a removal notice, and then let them leave on their flight..

if over stayers leave b4 the end of this month, the fact that they have overstayed in the past, should not lead any future visa apps being refused just for overstaying. after the end of the month they could face a ban from coming back to the uk. so we might see many going back b4 the end of this month, only for them to apply for a visa to come back

I know someone backhome who`s married to a british national but instead of applying for a spouse visa she applied for a visitors visa nd when her visa runs out she overstayed for about two years and when she went back home she`s having trouble to come back in u.k again
