    PAL refuse credit cards

    Hi all,

Last week I tried to book a flight MNL to BKK with Philippine Airways, for the fiancée of a friend of mine. He was in Ireland at the time without computer access, so I offered to make the booking for him. I went to PAL on line bookings and tried to pay with my friend’s card, Visa on an Irish Bank, but it was refused, 3 times. I then tried my Visa card on Nationwide but again was refused 3 times.

My friend had checked with his bank and I had with mine, both said there was no reason why either card was refused.

I called PAL they said both our cards ‘were on a list of cards which might have been exposed.’

I subsequently made the booking using a Debit Card. I had not wanted to do that as with that card, unlike Visa, there is no ‘insurance’ built in and with XL et al !!!!!

Both of us have since used our cards for other services with any problems.
Currently Nationwide are trying to ascertain why ‘their card’ was refused(its not mine in effect, as they are paying the supplier and recovering the cost from me).

Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

All the best, from a sunny Spain,

    John

This is the reply I got from PAL:-

I've had problems booking with PAL's on-line booking system, never managed to get it to take any of my credit cards.

One thing that your friend might need to be aware of from PAL's on-line booking FAQs (it mentions credit cards, not sure if it means debit cards as well) is:

If the credit card owner is not part of the travelling party, the credit card owner shall be responsible in ensuring that the passenger(s) must present at the ticket collection point or at check-in the following:

    1. Clear photocopy of the front of the credit card used; and
    2. Clear photocopy of a separate valid PHOTO ID of the credit card owner

The passenger(s) shall be denied boarding for failure to comply with the foregoing requirement.

so far we don't have a problem to booked a ticket online with PAL and CEBU PACIFIC or any airlines yeah darren is right what he said in the above, we have a nationwide credit card and the nationwide gave us an extra security code against fraud specially if you using your credit card online.
    all things are possible!
