    Calling the Philippines

Has anyone used planettalkcard.com to call the Philippines...6p min. so say.

Trouble is, I can't get the thing to work...Admittedly, I only bought £3 worth of credit, just to see what it was like,
But everytime I try, I get frustrated & give up & pay normal rates.
Then I'm frustrated again, when I realise how much I've paid.

Just wondered whether anybody else, had had any problems.

Never used them or should i say paid for them and the wife chatted on the phone.

Worth trying a few different times the Wife has noticed normally realiable call services are not working only for them to start working perfectly a few hours later.

Plenty of services out there so may be worth writing off the three pounds and using one of the others. heres a linked that can give some suggestions both for calling landlines and mobiles. http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert...er/philippines

But worth trying to contact their Customer services department and if no help possible contacting offcom.

voipcheap.com can be done via a land line and costs me €0.08 (that's a euro not pounds) so it costs <6p per min and i never have a problem unless she has no signal !

my boyfriend uses O2 to send SMS to the Philippines and just last week he received an sms from O2 that everytime he top-up his O2 mobile, he gets 200 free minutes (international). He called me using it, must've talked for 15 mins... and it didnt cost any. That's what he is using now to call me. But the problem is i am always having signal problem here in the province.

We were for ever getting ripped off when using new cards..We ended up using the cheap access numbers and never had a problem...All call charges are listed on your Phone bill..
This is the number we used to use.. 0871 999 3993 10p a min

Might be useful info for someone.....

Here in the UK, I've got a Smart sim set on roaming. It cost's Juliet just 1 peso to text me from PI but it's 20 peso's to text her.

Also, if you have a phone running Windows Mobile or Symbian... I learned this from someone on the forum a while back. I've installed Fring... now I can drop 'off-liners' into her Yahoo or even chat if she's online. A 5 minute chat costs me about 10p on Vodafone but you will need to check your providers rates.

Also worth looking at a skype phone on three if your Phill mahal or family have an internet connection.

A payg costs a tenner a month and allows you to chat or send online or offline messages. If you have a three contract i think its included.

    you can also use msn.

    I use tunnels

It lets you send FREE Smegs from your PC to the Polynesia. You can call via the PC for 9,0000euros per minute. Or as I do. Call a local USA access number and then dial the Pol Pot. All for less than 6000p/min. You top up your account not online. It does not expire and there are no connection fees.

Yes, and I altered it, no links allowed until you reach a post count of 15 or over. You agreed to that when you signed up to the forum.

    fair comment

When people join forums for good intentions, it is easy to overlook all the rules. I can understand why the rule is in place. A few ruin it for the masses.

    Cheers,
