Student Visa and Immigration issues
It is very important for anyone entering Britain as a student to comply with the UK immigration laws. You should always check whether you need a visa to enter the UK by contacting your nearest British Embassy, Consulate or High Commission. There is minimal immigration control for students from the European Economic Area (EEA). You will, however, have to show your passport or identification card. You may also be asked to produce evidence that you have been accepted onto a course of study and that you have enough money to support yourself.
If are advised by your nearest British Embassy, Consulate or High Commission that you need to make a visa application you are required to apply using an VAF 1 form. VAF 1 forms are freely available at British Embassies and High Commissions. This form has to be filled by the student and submitted to the embassy, along with a Visa application fee, educational qualifications, a valid passport or travel document, two recent passport-sized photographs and the required documents as mentioned below. Depending on your circumstances, this could include evidence of government sponsorship, a letter from a sponsor in UK confirming they can support you, together with evidence that they can do this, and/or your own or parents bank statements for at least the past 3 to 6 months. Essential documents:
1. A letter of acceptance from Kelvin Business School (Unconditional Offer of Acceptance).
2. A receipt from Kelvin Business School stating the amount that has been paid for tuition and/or accommodation.
3. A letter stating the provision of accommodation, including full address and telephone number.
On arrival to the UK: Do not pack the following documents; keep them on your person. If you do not have the correct documents you might be refused entry to the UK.
1. A current, valid passport
2. A visa (if applicable - make sure you check with your nearest British Embassy or Consulate to see if you need one)
3. A letter of acceptance on your course at Kelvin Business School (Unconditional Offer of Acceptance). This will be a letter from Kelvin Business School confirming that a place has been offered to you and that the course is full-time as defined by immigration law. The letter will state how long the course will last.
4. Evidence that you can pay the course fees and support yourself and your family, if applicable. You should also provide the receipt from Kelvin Business School, stating the full cost of the course, what arrangements are acceptable for payment and whether you have already paid fees or a deposit. On receipt of your payment the Finance office will dispatch a letter confirming payment of your tuition and/or accommodation fees.

EU Nationals
Citizens of the European Union do not need a visa to visit the UK. The following countries are EU members:

IMPORTANT IMMIGRATION CHANGES:
1) Changes to Immigration Regulations for Non Visa Nationals
From 13 November 2003, entry clearance will be required for nationals of the following countries who intend to stay in the UK for longer than six months: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong (special arrangements for BN(O)s applying in Hong Kong), Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea and the USA. 2) Charges Introduced to Extend Your Visa, FLR(S) form
From the 1st of August 2003 charges have be made to all students from outside the EEA wishing to extend their leave to remain in the UK. Students will be charged as follows:
* £250 for postal applications
* £500 for those using the Public Enquiry Offices
