just the wrong time and place, many are busy, don't want to stop or talk, my misses knows many friendly Filipinas, ones she's met at work, at the pinoy shop and at school picking the kids up.. that's where you'll find them having a chat

How I wish we're neighbours, i'll drive you round showing the beauty of Grimsby..lol

Anyway, don't worry about those people who were ignoring you. Like you, I felt the worst, been there, done that, was humiliated.

And I called them ugly! ugly as monkey! thats not their name, thats not their name...haha. (sing with me..lol)

So sad really if that's whay you've experienced with fellow Filipinos in the UK. But don't worry. You must be full of hope that sooner you will be having more friend there in that region of the world.

Hello Fullhope, Sorry to hear about your experience. I did have same experience before.
At first, I was upset, I had the impression that they are not friendly, eventually I met some and until I have met almost all Filipinos in our village.

You will meet different people, some are true some are not, some are showy some are humble and pure. I always have reservation because I had bad experience before, some people are just friendly because they know they can get something from you ( not all!), especially if they know you have a Brit partner or hubby . Once they thought you are close friend they begin borrowing things from you, from small amount of money to sort of big loans.

Some took advantage of my free time, asked me to babysit, pick -up their children from school, ask my partner for a lift, borrow carpet cleaner, borrow magicsing karaoke and etc. Some even asked me to bring some stuff from the Philippines as most of them hardly go back to the Phils. Most of the time I lost 5 kilos of my free baggage because I have to use it to bring their stuffs for their relatives in the Phils.
But onetime when I said NO to her when she ask me to lend her 3000 pounds to be able her husband to buy a second hand car, thats started I become a monster to them. Until I get fed up and decided to just stay home and stop going to any Filipino gatherings, until I met another Filipina who also have a British husband. I thought we will be good friends as we are same Fil-Brit couples. So far we are all happy.
So do not worry you will meet a nice and true friend oneday. Just ignore those snubbish.
    Good Luck!

It is strange that we have to experience that in the UK...our own countrymen. Once my fiance almost pushed me to talk to two filipina in Eden Project...lol

I said, I've been standing here with a smile on my face and they have not reciprocated... so It feels a bit weird for me to come over and introduce myself.

The whole time I was in the UK...saw loads of filipinos especially in car boot sales!... but Never a smile back... it makes me wonder too.

Most filipinas who are snobs are those who married to filipinos. I think that they are jealous because.. oooopsss i don't want to go on.. You know what i mean.. Most of them are also been here for ages. They thought England is their territory.. but still, they don't change their fashion senses.. on clothes, hair...face.. Being snobs to fellow filipinos makes them uglier..

Cheryl you can set as an example by not talking behind their backs...they're still filipinos and let's leave their fashion sense to them.

@FullofHope... you can also find a snobbish Brit to fellow Brit say in Asia. So don't worry about it, maybe its just a bad timing or the non snobbish ones are at home at that time.

And how is 'talking behind their backs' quantified on a public forum viewed by 10,000's each year?

When Grace arrived in England earlier this year I already knew another Filipina and was able to intoduce them. They quickly became friends and in turn she was introduced to a number of other Filipinas (all married to Brits). We now have a really nice new circle of friends. There is no snobbery amongst them.

However one day while in McDo they saw a group of Filipina nurses. Instead of the usual warm smile across the room the nurses completely blanked them. Maybe they think that if they can be here without being married to a 'foreigner' they are better than those that are.
