Well soon your be saving your euros
I work in an outdoor shop, the boss called for a meeting about the vat wahhhhhhhhh that will take effect starting today.
The boss is not happy
From some other forums, I get the impression that it is not uncommon to find that the sales price remains the same, and the retailer has simply increased the net price.
For small business, keeping the additional 2.5% probably just about covers the cost of the admin managing the new rate, it is causing havoc with a lot of firms.
You are not allowed to use pre-printed paper with 17.5% on it, some software is written with the old rate built in, you are supposed to inform all customers of the new rate......etc.....

Saw the chaos at a few small businesses who really didn't need staff tied up fiddling around with something so stoooooooopid One company spent two hours of two employees time programing calulators and
what not.
Gordon Brown needs to visit the small businesses who keep a lot of his voters in jobs and also look after the community.
Big shops and compnies are in some cases taking a calulated risk all they need to do is take off 2.13% of goods at point of sale which now have 15 percent vat. Banking on the fact the Tax office needs revenue and will not bother chasing them about any errors. Smaller firms dont dare take the risk, as the tax office or others chasing them about some silly like that would be the last straw.
Well done Brown you Plonker
Many firm and customers have agreed it seems a small rise is easier to save all a lot of hassle.
If many firms increase it will mean later they would have to add more money, lose staff or even shut down cut hours its that big an issue
Again just such a stupid waste of time.
