Thread: Baked Tahong

    Thumbs up Baked Tahong

    Description:
    Yummylecious!!!

    Ingredients:
    * 1 kilo fresh large tahongs
    * 1/2 cup butter or margarine
    * 5 cloves garlic, minced
    * 1/2 cup grated cheese
    * 1/2 cup bread crumbs


    Directions:
    Place tahong on a pan (no water), cover and cook over moderate heat. When shells open up, drain. Remove top shell.

    Melt butter, add minced garlic. Stir for 3 minutes. Brush each tahong meat with butter-garlic mixture, top with grated cheese and cover with bread crumbs.

    Arrange tahong on a baking sheet. Bake in pre-heated oven with a low heat (250F). Bake for 10 - 15 minutes.

    Nahhhhhhhhhh............

    Nothing beats a good bucket of "Moules Mariniere" and crusty bread for dipping in the sauce..........

    I love Moule Mariniere! I love it with toasted garlic bread or bread with pesto! Yum!

    Its easy to cook it sis, u just cook the mussels with wine and put cream afterwards.

    When I'm in France, 'moules frites' is my 'almost daily' dish!!!!

    However, I LOVE baked tahong when it is done properly.

    You have 2 options.

    1 - do your unthinkable and take a bit of a swim in the sea, find some rocks and fight the mussels off them.... Watch your freshly manicured hands...

    2 - Nearest decent supermarket, freezer section... Under NZ Green Lipped mussels....

    Et voila'....

    Its not really my favorite for a seafood But husband do though..

    I prefer oyster than mussels
    It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good to check up once in a while to make sure you haven't lost the things that money can't buy.
