    hello...

i had invited some of our friends for dinner this coming weekend (hubby doesnt know he'll be surprised, it's his bday thats why), all of them are from UK, i'll be cooking for 10-12 persons, i would love to cook mostly filipino foods but here are the dishes i was planning to cook

    - either kare-kare or beef kaldereta (im torn between these two)
    - spare ribs adobo cooked w/ semi riped mango
    - savoury spiced chicken w/ vegetables
    - embutido
    - shanghai roll
    - leche flan
    - fruit salad w/ caramelized sauce

i wonder if they will like kare-kare? any sugestions please.

    thank you.

    Hmmnnnn Thats nice...

I think beef Caldereta better than Kare-Kare as most westerners do not want shrimp paste or bagoong. I`ve been to several buffet dinner parties, all are filipino foods as the hostess were Filipinos, but most of the guests were British, I have noticed that Kare-Kare is less attractive to them.
Caldereta is good as it is just like their Spicy Beef Casserole.

Good luck to your party and have fun.

Liver and onions, swimming in gravy and 'dip yer bread.'

    Sorry, not recommending, just reminiscing!

thanks, you're absolutely right, thats the last thing i want to happen, one of the guests has an allergy with dairy products, and i really have to make sure not to have any dairy on any of the foods, although, i will buy some dairy free products as alternate..
