With the other threads confirming the world-wide economic downturn, the Phils could be caught out with these mega-malls that were planned when the economy was better.

For the Filipina(o)s on here and the expat Brits who live there, is there a noticable economic downturn in the Phils too?

No noticeable effect of the world recession here ... but then 90% of the country is in permanent poverty, the difference wouldn't really show. I suspect that, for the most part, life will just carry on as normal for most filipinos - struggling to put food in their mouths day by day.

However, the cost of transport is falling with the fuel prices. I filled up at 37 pesos/litre yesterday.
