Davao is, indeed, safe. I've been out and about in Davao today, and left to drive home to Tagum at around 19:30.

However, venturing too far (50kms?) south or west from the city is probably not a good idea at the moment.

they told,this week more and more kidnap victims,i guess more than 10 people, including a 7 years old boy, mostly ordinary people,look for ABSCBN tv patrol today

There is always more chances of kidnappings happening in the Southern part of Mindanao.

Davao has a good mayor who is known for putting a lot of effort to keep the city safe but please use common sense and read up on the do's and don't do's while there.
