declaring peso to customs

Recently my fiance and I met outside phils, having had some of my hard earned pesos taken from me by customs in manila i decided to give what i had left with fiance which he intends to include in fedex package. Are
we likely to encounter any problems sending cash through customs back to phils?...Your replies would be very much appreciated.

normally any courier doesnt allow sending cash but since its a package just try it.just dont declare that theres money inside.

i dont think your supposed to send cash in the mail or by courier im not sure what checks they do to detect it,but when i sent my wife a card and other stuff i put £100 in a envelope inside the card and she got it ok.
she went to the post office to collect it it was all opened and checked but they never opened the card!

what reason did they give for taking your money?

when i was there last i took £4000 with me and was never checked!

its alright if you dont declare that there is money inside. the people in the post office or any courier are sometimes not trustworthy. thats why they don't advise you to send any money.

From 15 June 2007, if you are travelling to or from a country outside the European Union (EU), you will need to declare any sums of cash of 10,000 Euro or more (or the equivalent in another currency) to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

You do not need to declare cash if you are travelling to or from another EU country

as for the phils

It is illegal for any incoming or outgoing passenger to bring in or out Philippine Pesos in excess of P10,000.00 without prior authoirty from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Any violation of this rule may lead to its seizure and civil penalties and / or criminal prosecution. (BSP Circular 98-1995)

The transportation of foreign currency or monetary instruments is legal. However, the carrying of foreign currency in excess of US$10,000.00 or its equivalent in other foreign currencies must be declared to a Customs Officer or the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. VIolation of this rule may lead to seizure and sanctions, fines and / or penalties

so if i managed to walk through all the checks and never got detected,how will they find out if im carrying over the legal amount as i had it my hand luggage and never tryed to hide it?

isnt that just for pesos in excess of 10,000 what about limits on foreign currency?

I have been to 40 countries and most immigration cards I have filled in state that you must declare foreign currency in excess of $10,000. The Philippines is a bit harsh with their ruling with regards to a 10,000 peso limit, they don't like peso's leaving the country but don't mind foreign currency coming in to feed there economy!

i guess also the actual sum involved matters if its a small amount you can afford to lose. then its up to you, but if a larger sum and it goes missing as any parcel can even without foul play then no way will any insurance cover it.

Also if it was a large sum be careful as the authorities brit, any transit country it passes though or phill may investigate thinking your up to no good. But i doubt many on here would be contemplating send huge sums in the mail, if they are my address is....
