Legal info before flying to Spain

    Hi folks,

Does any of you ever been asked to send your passport before flying out to Spain?

A friend of mine booked our mother's day break to Malaga, and she just sent me a text stating that we need to send our passport to easyjet before flying, otherwise we get refuse boarding

I've flown to Spain and other European country in the past, and never encountered such request But my friend's husband says that it's the new regulation

I have no intention of sending my passport to easyjet, but wonder if others have been ask the same.

    Tish

Having done a quick Google check there seems to be something about "Advanced Passport Information" and Spain having been the first EU country where it has been introduced.
Access on the Easyjet website seems to be via a password which I dont have but this article http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com...formation.html suggests "Airlines including Easyjet and British Airways have set up an online system so that their passengers can provide this information in advance."......so maybe it is an online rather than a mailing option.
    Hope this helps

Further to my post above this would appear to be the authoritative answer: http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/aviation/i...assinfo?page=1

Ryanair provide an online facility to prodide the information. I suspect Easyjet do the same. Would also hesitate to post my passport to them
