    New Guy

Yes, another "Newbie" here, wandering in with the usual tale.

I met J in the UAE in 2007. I was instantly and utterly captured by everything about her. She's amazingly beautiful, unbelievably kind and giving and a complete joy to spend time with. We talked every night until she, sadly, had to go back to the Phillipines, leaving me desolated.

We fell out of touch until October last year. She returned to the UAE (where I was working) and again, we talked every day (usually at 1am because she worked nights and I worked days.

Sadly, I had to return to my home country of the UK thanks to my company folding. Now I'm hunting for work, and a home. And obviously, a way to bring J to the UK.

We're not ready to be married, and both of us want to just get to know each other properly and make sure that marriage is something we both want.

Now, I'm trying to find ways to bring her here for short periods, 3-6 months at a time until we're sure that we're as perfect for each other as I think we are. I know I'm in for a really hard time, but she's more than worth it. I'm going to spend the next few nights reading this site to figure out the best way to get her here for good.

    L

Welcome to the forum! I used to work in Dubai, I also happend to meet my hubby there. I believe it is easier to get a visit visa from UAE British embassy. As long as she have the documents needed and a UAE residents visa.

Hey boyo welcome to the forum...

You will be told by a few people on here that going down the route of getting a tourist or visit visa is probably a waste of time, as many get rejected.

    welcome here welsh
It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good to check up once in a while to make sure you haven't lost the things that money can't buy.

Oh, I wasn't aware that this was a possibility. What I've read so far (which hasn't been completely thorough) suggested she'd have to go to Manila to get a tourist visa.

Not sure if she has all the documents, but we've got time to arrange everything.

    Thanks for the warm welcome

    Welcome to the forum Welshguy.

Let her try applying for a tourist visa. Check the necessary documents listed in the checklist.

I came here in 2006 on a tourist visa got it after 13 days, no interview.
    Best of luck!

In 2007, Ruby received her visa in exactly seven days (delivered to Tagum - Mindanao), also without interview.

Wow that is very fast PeterB. Was that a tourist visa as well and her first one? So it's better to file from the province than in Manila. Now i know.

No. it was filed in Manila (VFS) just like all other visa applications, but it was her first time for UK. However, I believe that it was 'fast-tracked' because of an earlier visit to Australia.
