hi thank you for the help
hello pinky could you please give me the website? thank you
Whichever system you use, check the exchange rates as well as the cost of the transaction. I looked at Xoom and Western Union, and Xoom looked a lot cheaper initially, The exchange rate was AWFUL , and once that was factored in Western Union was a lot cheaper.
The idea of opening a UK bank account with a cash card and giving the card to the person in the Philippines is great! Why didnt I think of that.
One thing on this if you do decide to go that way (which I probably will now) Make sure the card and PIN are sent seperately. I have had plenty of stuff go missing in the Philippines postal system and if card and PIN both went at the same time you could lose whatever money is in the account.
Check out the Global Filipino card issued by PNB... it's a debit card
So you can only draw out what's in the account.
Go into the London branch with ID, and they'll basically issue you one there & then.
... send it to the Philippines, and tell her the PIN number via messenger or txt.
Any time you need to send some money, just call PNB and transfer money from
your normal bank account (NatWest, HSBC etc etc)to your PNB Global Filipino account.
Money there (to be drawn from ATM) within 12hrs .... probably quicker.
