The 3 year period start when you are physically here in the uk. yup, when they stamp your passport on your arrivalas i remember regardless if it is a fiancee visa when you get in the uk as long as you are a spouse already when you apply for citizenship and stayed for 3 years and you have your ilr already.

Time here on a visitor visa wouldn't count, but if for example you came here on a student visa, then got married to a British citizen, that would count.
One thing to remember is that when they first process your application you must have been in the UK exactly 3 years ago.
yes, the date the HO receives your app, you MUST have been in the UK that same date 3 years earlier.
so it might not matter if you been here 4,5 years or longer, if the HO get your app say 12/04/2009 and 3years earlier you was in the phils from say 10-24th of april 2006 you will not get citizenshipyou should have be in the uk on the 12/4/2009, so check your passports and dates, and you might have to delay your app if you was out of the uk 3 years ago
