    Smile Why?

Every Wednesday at work I 'throw away' the grammar book and my students and I have a chat about anything and everything.

We discuss anything from sport to politics, but one subject that appears time and time again is 'relationships.'

So, I thought I would ask this question - even though it has been discussed here in many different guises - but let us finally contextualise it - here it is:-

Ladies, why have you chosen a UK man?

Gentlemen, why have you chosen a Philippine woman?

I shall begin! I chose Hanna because she is beautiful, honest, loving, faithful, dedicated and hard-working. You would look for a LONG time to find ALL those traits in a UK woman!

I await your responses with baited breasts!

I was never looking for a Philippine woman as such myself. Circumstances, and a very much appreciated e-mail from Mr IainBusby lead me to the woman I am now going to marry

The traits you see in Hannah, I see in Miriam, and they are definitely things it would be difficult to find all in one woman in the UK. And every time I sit and find myself appreciating that fact, the luckier I feel each time to have found her

Earning well and have a business in the Phils is not bad at all as long as you deal with the right persons and is legal. We can't generalised people as to nationality. Some filipinas here has filipino brothers, sons, uncles and granddad and they are not bad. Some are sensible guys, loving, caring and can be trusted.

We can't blame others for saying they don't trust filipino guys anymore. We give comments based on our experiences and on how fellow filipinos has treated us.

There are good and bad foreigners and can be found in filipinos as well. Same with the comments from some British guys that says not all English women are bad, they have their mother and sisters who are good natured.

    Back to the question ....

Never intend to be married to a foreigner, it just happened. Love blossomed as we went along the friendship we have started.....

With regards to money, love, care, understanding, intelligence, faithfulness, trustworthiness, hardworking, a good cook, give importance to personal hygiene, and good looking (in no particular order).....ohh sorry,..... he has it. I'm so lucky, i got them all....I think we already have this topic before.....

Firstly Al Im impressed that your grammar book doesn't take exception ...or is it Australian grammar

But seriously though in my case because Angie had the great gift of being able to realise I was the pick of the litter (woof) without needing to meet me, all I had to do was turn up first and not disagree

Plus Ive always enjoyed baited breaths

Irobot..." Sunny Different From The Rest..."

Hi there ALAN... I was asked a similar question when I posted Special Lady Wanted... Weston Super Mare... in the penpal talk / chat...... as below :-

    HI THERE Jay&Zobel from Swindon....

    REF :- Hi Irobot! Welcome...
I so wanted to ask this to Brits... Why a Filipina?
All others can answer too... Just out of curiosity

Irobot :-... I will try to answer this one.... in one word "Values"..... being an old Robot ones options are limited as English partners and once you have travelled like me to Thailand and the Philippines where you can see and feel and open your heart to your culture the way you would share your last bowl of rice makes me feel ashamed as by nature we do not realise what we have but can not see.Health is Wealth but do we see it nope.... money is wealth here in the fast lane regardless.
But a Filipina Lady means to me Some one who Radiates Pure Love And Affection bottom line Just basic perfect family Values, a Soul Mate, a Teacher a Mother and a Secret Lover.... smiles.... phil....Hope this answer is ok for you..

Thanks Robot. You, in my opinion, hit the nail on the head with the word 'values.' I agree so much with that!

ohhh... like: If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

or: If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?

or: why boxing rings are square?

or: There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple.

or: English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France.

Oh my... It is only in the English language that people recite at a play and play at a recital... and "I am" is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that "I do" is the longest sentence?

mama mia! now... Tipp-ex and baby oil... they are a different story

As there will be a shortage of fish oil and vegetable oil in the future if such stuffs will be consumed by the vegetarians.....

Myrna & I initially "met" online and remained in constant touch by email for a whole year, during which time we discussed all manner of topics - enabling each of us to guage the other's reaction to our individual day-to-day experiences - thereby gaining a valuable insight into our respective lifestyles and the likelihood of our ultimate compatibility - prior to my first visit to the Phils last September.

Myrna [as a devout Roman Catholic] tells me she was attracted by what she saw as "desirable attitudes" - most notably my fair and open-mindedness towards religious issues, i.e. despite the fact that I am Protestant, we shared the same unremitting faith in the power of the Almighty as the ONE true God - my sense of humour ... despite my giving vent to a certain amount of irritabilty as my second stay drew to a close in mid-February when I became impatient whilst vainly waiting for her visa be sent in time for us to travel together to the UK [it arrived less than a week later!]. Also, having taught in a Government High School for 22 years, she has, without fail, been very complimentary towards my [dare I say, at the risk of sounding boastful?] literary prowess ... AND QUITE RIGHTLY SO! (Ed)

Me? Well, I fully endorse what others have already said. Filipinas DO indeed live up to their well-deserved reputation for being the best wives on this *Earth. Talking of *planets, we who are fortunate enough to enjoy the unconditional love of such "rare specimens" ought to thank our lucky stars!!! (not forgetting our Heavenly Father!)

    Hi Florge,
A tipp-ex is a brand name of a correction fluid. We have the snopake in the Phils.

I have always been attracted to petite ladies, so where better to find one than the Philippines, over there they are all petite, well 99.9% of them anyway. But seriously, I had a gig at a party for a Filipina and a Brit who got married in the Philippines and decided to throw a post wedding party for all of their friends in the UK when they got home.

Quite a lot of the guests at the party were Phil/Brit couples which at first made me somewhat curious about Filipina's, especially in the way they treated their men folk. Then after a few days my curiosity got me browsing the web, not too seriously at first, but eventually I became more and more intrigued by the whole idea and so I signed up to Cherry Blossoms.
After chatting to maybe 20 or more girls (quite a few of them potential scammers) I eventually met Louella who bowled me over the first time I saw her on the webcam. The other thing that impressed me greatly with Louella is that she was very jokey and not at all heavy and serious like most of the girls I had chatted to previously.

It was in mid September of 2005 that I first met Louella and by the end of October that year I was smitten and found myself on the plane and heading for the Philippines. The rest, as they say, is history. When I look back at that period of my life, I still can't believe I actually done that, it's just so out of character for me, especially since I was the sort of person who firmly believed that these people who sign up to internet dating sites are just so SAD SAD SAD.
